There doesn't even seem to be a consideration for qualifications and experience, favouring market opinion over Ed Milliband or Miatta Fahnbulleh with a Phd in Economic Development, six years as Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation and a sackful of great ideas.

As Burnham has said that PR can only be brought in after a GE he's living in the political bubble that can't grasp that Labour will be wiped out without electoral reform. Even if it were only for the reason of making Labour face reality, the Greens should stand.

The fact Labour supporters switch so readily to Reform or Restore Britain shows where Labour really stands. If you're in Makerfield then voting Green is a matter of conscience.

Complained about the last Debate Night and the reply suggests that Labour and Reform are going to have representation on every edition with the fourth guest alternating Green, Tory, Lib Dem. And so far, 2 of the fifth guests have been pro-union.
We have representatives from the largest Holyrood party and from the largest opposition parties. With regards to the other political parties, we ensure that they receive proportionate representation, according to a number of factors including their electoral support, over the course of a series. This extends to those with specific views, including on such issues as the constitution, and they are featured over a series rather than in one edition of the programme.

You're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I think the Greens should stand. But Burnham would have taken a share of Green votes had he made a commitment to PR before 2029.

Scott & Rod @scottrod.bsky.social · 17/05/2026
Greens can win a few thousand votes that could have gone to Burnham .

Scott & Rod @scottrod.bsky.social · 17/05/2026
Leaving a commitment to PR till after the 2029 election has just screwed his chances. The Greens have to stand and the split will probably allow Reform to win. Oh when will they ever learn?

If Burnham makes a serious commitment to PR then the Greens should not stand a candidate.

In 1994, he began his private equity investing career with 3i plc, followed by two years at Bankers Trust of New York, where he was managing director of European Acquisition Finance.[7] In 1998, he joined Charterhouse Capital Partners as a partner and remained there for sixteen years, investing in four European private equity funds before retiring as senior partner in December 2013.[7] Offord is the founder and chair of Edinburgh-based private equity company, Badenoch and Co.

Did Anas Sarwar really say that 40 per cent of Scotland's electricity came from nuclear sources? #STVdebate
FoI Request: Could you supply all briefings, analysis and correspondence, including internal, held by the Scottish Government regarding nuclear power, between March 1 2024 and May 31 2024? In 2022, 7,944 GWh of electricity was generated from nuclear power in Scotland. This accounted for 15.8% of the total electricity generated in Scotland in 2022. This compares to 28% in 2018. Meanwhile, electricity generated from renewables has risen from 55% to 71% in the same period.
