Ah, the work decisions which make the best use of our time. I work from home. I still had to a completre a 'what to do in an active shooter type event at work" exercise for HR.

I really liked the sense of accomplishment when you figured out who was where, entered the code... and you were right! So satisfying!

New achievement unlocked. (Pixie has never ventured up there before.)

This one must go back a long, long time. Weird that it specifically is called out.

Really Steve? Page 3? (Steven Erickson used both these words liberally in his Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Now he's just poking fun at himself/his audience a bit I think.) #Malazan

snip from 'Legacies of Betrayal' (Witness #3 in the Malazan universe) from Steven Erickson, highlighting words 'ochre potsherds', both of which Steve is (in)famous for (over)using.

Agreed; would rather not be associated with tragedy.

A fishing boat in Alaska sank. Some crew sadly died. My namesake was on it. Lived. I got calls from journalists for years asking if it was me that was on it. Also, a friend from high school's fiance was on the same boat. He was one of the fatalities.

I share a first/last name with someone in the area. In college, I got their reckless driving charge on my record - almost lost my auto insurance. Took a while between driving 50 miles to where it happened, and calling Olympia, to get it removed. And then...

Oooo, yay! I'm still in Italy. I need $$ to get a camera, and put it down for a while - too much else to play. Should get back to it, it was mostly really fun.

I liked the concept and some of the lore. Just didn't vibe with the MC. Made it halfway.

Lots of people in line for swag. There's a generally happy, festive vibe - fun to see the whole neighborhood turn up for this!

Me too! Well, read Sword/Dagger, and now re-reading the ones in the same world. And it looks like Astarion just appeared in my account, so that's tonight settled. Also: Dead Beat (9th House #3) 13 Ways to Kill Lulabell Rock The Daughters' War re-reads of Becky Chamber, Joe Abercrombie, Adrian T

This was Floofcat. Feral/scared of humans. Probably deaf. They showed up one night on my porch, mistook them for a raccoon. Fed them on my porch morn/night for 6 years. Disappeared last winter. No idea what happened. They had a heating pad in garage, no other safety.

I'm still salty about the demise of Google Music. It let me load up all my MP3s, and I could listen to them anywhere. Also, I just found my old discman/casette tape adapter in a drawer yesterday.

I do like the contrast - the panels tone down the bright white of the roof.

Yeah, it's a hit in the pocketbook. Will pay for itself in ~12 years, which isn't bad. (Also, I didn't count on the roof being as costly as it was - thought the old roof was in mostly OK shape. It was not. They had to replace so much semi-rotted plywood.)

That's what I'm hoping, too! :)

Yesterday, finished up the roof brackets. Today, solar panels go up! (I'm still not in love with the color I picked for the roof, but I think we'll be seeing more light-colored roofs going forward. Attic got plenty warm with red shingles.)

That's great! 'My' station (Pinehurst) opens in a couple days - it's a 5 minute walk - and I'm looking forward to all the easy trips I'll be able to take. Will re-explore areas I haven't been too for a long time, now that I won't have to worry about traffic/driving/parking.

Anyone know who came up with the idea of 'stealing' the rounded-off bits of interest? I remember it from one of the Stainless books, and Office Space managed to use it, but... wondering where it originated.

I am also re-reading Swordheart for the same reason. I may do a re-read her related books, never read them as a group. Also doing a re-read of The Black Company. Recent books:
