He put out pots of paint, brushes and set out an honesty box to collect a $1 fee. Half-seriously, he figured he'd make a few bucks. Maybe. ... Word got out. Another inscribed stone was added to the quarry, then many more until the #Mountain of Regrets and Unrealized Dreams rose skyward.

For my 'TPC Files' project, the mix of small and novella-sized stories along with shared appendices work best. My aim is to highlight a variety of activities in a fully functioning universe. Some stories may end up as short novels. 'Trooper Jensen' wip word count is 24.3k words. Final 45–50k words.

Drills were important. Drills kept people alive when battle raged and people soon came to realise the armoured shell of the Charon might as well be #tissue when the ordnance began to fly. Everyone needed to be at the top of their game, all the time. Even more so for Dylan, especially. #vss365

Short answer: No. My wip, 'Oriana Chronicles', has had spells of hibernation and lingering, requiring a rewrite of the original text. A side effect is the story grew from 1 to 7 books to tell. Reusing ideas: I brought my scifi wips into the same universe by sharing a common lexicon and technology.

Extract from the story: 'Fever'. Text follows:

... In another area, I found two carved bone needles the length of my index fingers. What fabrics did they work? What stories had they heard?
Like the comb, I trained my own eye through the larger needle’s eye, blocking out the site save for a narrow strip. What did I hope to expose by such a procedure? It was well I was without the curious observations of other seekers. I strained one eye, then the other, in discovering nothing new. I commemorated that folly by fixing two darning needles to a square of cloth and pinning them to my jacket medal-like.

Good Q. I cut 5 words and changed verb tenses when posting above excerpt. Reads much better. For my main wip, I have an Outtakes Folder where I keep the big chunks I've removed from chapters during rewrite/editing. They're unlikely to return. I'm fine with cutting passages that no longer belong.
