“How’s your on call?” “When was the last time your team had to crunch, and what did it look like” (ideally asking the employees you’d be with, not the manager) “Tell me a time when a coworker had an emergency, how did you (manager) or team handle it?” That kinda stuff gets to the meat of it imo

I think there’s correct ways to ask this, and it’s not “how’s your work life balance?” One time a friend put on their dating profile “looking for empathetic people!” which will only get you people that don’t exhibit that trait. Same same.
