still pondering how to display this new element from a design perspective but for now, there's a little progressive enhancement to show the button and text, or static instructions, based on a class added via a feature test: 'HTMLInstallElement' in window.
A screenshot of the footer of the website with an install button active: the text says, "I'm an app!" followed by a built-in install button. This is the supported use caseA second screenshot of the footer for browsers that don't support it. It says "i'm an app: save to your home screen", but does not have a button to do it for you

Made Dilly Bean Stew with Cabbage and Frizzled Onions again tonight (in Alison Roman’s new book). Tripled the onions this time, doubled the vinegar. Still could’ve added more dill. came out great

As an example, the OG previews I use for URLs on my site are just dynamically-generated screenshots of the page itself, taken at Open Graph viewport sizes. The screenshot service step so many sites now do seems so silly. And my layout could be better catered to OG if I could target a CSS media type

Really nice to see "Custom Built-ins" aka the "is" attribute on this list. I've been vocal for a long time about this one being possibly *the* default way I'd use web components if it only worked in webkit/Safari (works everywhere else) I listed it #1.
My list of priorities with custom elements that extend built-ins at the top!

I have a morning checklist for packing everything for my run commute into Manhattan (towel, work clothes, laptop, etc). And yet, I forgot my belt again today. Did you know a running shoelace can be a belt?

ah yes, overflow: normal
Google's AI recommends css overflow: normal as an equivalent to overflow visibleit didn't look familiar to me so I searched "is overflow: normal" a valid value? its AI says, no it's not. Just made it up!

Recordings that show how deferred JS can delay accessibility, and fast rendering isn't necessarily perceivable to all. In both clips I'm opening a page in Chrome, which VoiceOver reads as soon as it can. Index.html contains an <h1>. Block.html adds a deferred JS that blocks the thread for 6 seconds

I think @zachleat.com's example from earlier in the year was a nice simple way to describe how nice it could be to have a declarative custom element for reuse on a page.
A code example demonstrating a reusable web component defined declaratively, best explained in this post https://www.zachleat.com/web/good-bad-web-components/#server-side-rendering

Hmm! I'm curious how that is different from current behavior. It seems to match how dev tools already report custom elements, "not interesting for accessibility" but I may be misunderstanding! Thanks
