James Wood has, at least for now, resolved one of his most exploitable weaknesses (and a key cause of his 2025 2nd half collapse) in a BIG way.
in 2025, breaking balls in 2-strike counts crushed Wood.Wood has utterly excelled against 2-strike breakers over the last several weeks.

Brent Rooker has struggled in 2026 compared to expectations, and one reason might be that just 24% of the pitches he has seen are four-seamers and a whooping 32% are sliders. But I got good news for A's fans and fantasy folks - Rooker is adjusting
Brent Rooker is improving against breaking balls per Pitcher List's Process Plus metric

Those sweet sweet rolling charts can help! It's a bad stretch for Naylor, but we've then them before and everything turned out fine.

You'd never know it by the narrative, but Junior Caminero hit more home runs on the road than in the extremely power-friendly park he called the home in 2025. His power plays everywhere, and the decision-making should improve with time.
Junior Caminero had elite power in 2025.

If you want to get pumped on Jorge Polanco and his small sample playoff doesn't do it for you, maybe this rolling K% chart will help. The 2025 version of Polanco can be a dangerous presence in the middle of the order if he keeps that 2025 trend.
Jorge Polanco's strikeout rate significantly improved at the start of 2025 and stayed that way all season.

It's OK to drop Jakob Marsee in your fantasy playoffs. He will still take walks (because he's highly averse to swinging the bat) and steal bases, but the rest is - at best - a question mark.

Jakob Marsee has been amazing this far and has earned the results. You should absolutely keep holding, BUT there are some signs that an adjustment period might be coming. How he handles it will tell us a LOT about what to expect in '26.
Jakob Marsee's Decision Value+ has taken a nosedive

At what point does doing everything right no longer matter? Because that's the story of Ben Rice for fantasy baseball right now. Great power, great contact, great swing decisions, mid results. Deep leagues it's an easy hold, but 12-teamers? Yeesh.

In brighter news, the incredible revival of Marcus Semien after 100 games of looking washed is being driven by consistently strong decision-making and this rediscovery of how to make great contact
Marcus Semien's Contact Ability+ went from the 10th percentile to the 90th percentile very quickly

There ARE positive things happening for Tyler Soderstrom, like a rebound in his contact ability; however, there's also this and it's very sad. Power+ can be volatile but hoo boy.
Tyler Soderstrom's rolling Power+ has gone from above the 90th percentile to almost the 10th percentile.

Why have I held steadfast in my belief that Spencer Torkelson will be a solid player all season? Even though his ability to make contact fluctuates, he makes fantastic decisions at the dish. As long as he keeps doing that, the power can shine through.

"Whoa, what's going on with Gary Sànchez?!" The same thing that has been going on for 2+ years, actually. It just doesn't look that interesting by the end of the season.
Gary Sanchez has oscillated between very high and very low rolling wOBAs almost like clockwork over the last 2 seasons

The one thing that stands out to me with Pete Crow-Armstrong's breakout is this gradual growth in his ability to make contact in the zone. It moves somewhat tightly with his rolling wOBA and tells a pretty good story about his growth so far in his career.

Consider Jo Adell in the midst of a breakout WATCH, but not yet a WARNING (stealing meteorology terms). All the conditions are here - improved decision-making, plus contact (most important element for him), and that consistent sweet sweet power. If conditions hold, take cover.
Jo Adell's Process+ from Pitcher List shows excellent power with improved decision-making and contact.

Junior Caminero's production took off like a rocket and the reason why isn't terribly complicated - he just got the ball in the air. When that FB% is north of 35-40%, he can put up elite numbers.

Fernando Tatis Jr. can absolutely be a top-15 hitter this season, but if I said I wasn't concerned about the power outage for the short term, I'd be lying. At least the decision-making has stayed strong!

Scott Chu @scottchu.pitcherlist.com · 07/06/2025
Sure, he's not running and will run less, but Ronald Acuña Jr. seems to have found that power again (small sample, of course) and he can be a top-15 hitter even without the steals.
Ronald Acuña Jr's Process+ chart shows plenty of power and solid decision-making in 2025

I'm still bullish on Spencer Torkelson as long as decision-making stays strong, which it has even during this slump. If that starts to fade, I'll be worried.

Willson Contreras has had slumps like this before. Many times. And worse. And everything was OK.

Riley Greene is a real threat to hit 30+ home runs in 2025, even in spacious Comerica Park.

Wyatt Langford got better at laying off fastballs out of the zone, and in doing so, honed in on the pitches he could drive. If he carries this into 2025, 🤑

Jonathan India feels like a solid back-end MI type in KC. The elite decision-making skills keep the OBP floor high, and he should have a stable role. That said, Kaufman will be far less forgiving to India's limited/inconsistent pop and he's not a contact-oriented slap hitter either.
060
Scott Chu @scottchu.pitcherlist.com · 23/11/2024
India is interesting - @blandalytics.pitcherlist.com's PLV metrics suggest India is an elite decision-maker but he's held back by mediocre contact ability and limited/inconsistent power. At least the floor is pretty high?
Jonathan India's value as a hitter is mostly in his decision-making ability according to Process+ powered by PLV. Jonathan India is consistently a top-10% decision-maker according to PLV

2023 Triston Casas is the one who can be a star. Excellent decisions, made contact as expected, and crushed baseballs. 2024 Casas regressed significantly in contact and decision-making (especially in the zone). Unless he finds that 2023 form again, it's hard to see a path to being a top-10 1B.

If James Wood can be just average at contact for a full season, he's going to be a monster. His Aug and Sept were EXTREMELY promising - solid K%, got more balls in the air, growth all over the place.

Process+ is a great tool not just for the number, but for these bars. Connor Norby has a lot of upside thanks to his decision-making and power, but if those contact struggles continue, he will be EXTREMELY streaky. Credit: @blandalytics.bsky.social for this stat and view
Connor Norby's rolling Process+ shows him as a strong decision-maker with plenty of power, but he really struggles to make contact.

I really want to believe in Anthony Volpe for 2025 - and there are good reasons to do so - though the charts don't want to give me a straight answer. Decision value improved (mostly because he played off stuff outnof the zone) but seems to have made him worse at connecting when he DID swing

Scott Chu @scottchu.pitcherlist.com · 08/11/2024
GREAT QUESTION! In-zone decision value is how do they handle pitches in the zone, in this case with 2 strikes. These two charts help - he got more aggressive (but not wild) with 2 strikes in the zone (first chart) and it coincided with getting more hittable pitches with 2 strikes (second chart).

Rolling chart to make sure y'all know it's really me. Meadows showed this rapid acclimation in 2023 as well, making me optimistic that he can keep returning to this level as he gets more time in the lineup.
Parker Meadows rolling in-zone decision value in 2-strike counts in 2024 improved dramatically - from 10th percentile to 75th percentile - over his month and a half in the majors in 2024.
