The Untold Story Of Silver Jews' The Natural Bridge: How David Berman Lost His Mind, Left Pavement Behind, And Made A Masterpiece
It starts with a line you might yell at an ex across an empty, half-lit parking lot around midnight: “I don’t really wanna die/ I only wanna die in your eyes.” But here it’s not hollered, it’s sung, a...

Kim Gordon addressed AI on “DIRTY TECH,” so I asked her about Suno, which lets users generate songs in artists’ styles. I was delighted to finally meet my birthday twin in the final months of humanity. I noted that we share a birthday with Saddam Hussein. She already knew that. Kim Gordon knows all.

Solange wanted Tom to interview her for this release, but then there was a crisis once we published it! Happy 10th anniversary to someone giving a devastated Solange my phone number. Great album.

I talked to Starcleaner Reunion about forging a shared love of Stereolab in high school, yearning for the pre-internet indie underground, and incorporating everything from banjo to burning candles on their stellar debut album UMBRELLA, out today

When they popped up a few years back with a pair of accomplished EPs, Starcleaner Reunion were an alluring, disorienting proposition. The band name alone raised questions: Reunion, you say? What exact...

In Bridgeport tonight, Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts played their first concert in over a year. But first Young came out during Willie Nelson’s set, and the two did “Are There Any More Real Cowboys?,” their duet from 1985, the year they co-founded Farm Aid. They’ll both play the ‘26 edition on Sat.

Earlier this year, Athens musician @shaneparish.bsky.social released 'Autechre Guitar.’ It’s a collection that, as the title suggests, reimagines tracks by the legendary IDM duo for acoustic guitar. Parish brought the album to Making Time ∞ and spoke with @tddvsss.bsky.social after his set.

That was “Akron.” This one’s “Octoberland.” Bradford Cox played bass, hand bells, and a sampler, and he seemed in great spirits. He led “Happy Birthday” to his mom Edie, who turns 80 today, and thanked Making Time ∞’s Dave P: “If it weren’t for him I might’ve stayed at home for another seven years.”

Though he did participate in a seemingly spontaneous noise jam at an Athens vintage market in 2023, Deerhunter and Atlas Sound’s Bradford Cox has stayed out of the public eye this decade. Today, he returned to the stage with all new material at Philly’s Making Time ∞ – his first show in seven years.

In my old apt building, the garage stored 36 Corvettes Peter Max bought in 1990 off a guy who won them in a VH-1 sweepstakes. One for every year from 1953 to 1989. His plan was to paint them in psychedelic styles but he got busy so they just lived in Brooklyn, collecting dust for many years. R.I.P.

Yo La Tengo’s ‘I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass’ came out 20 years ago today. Which means it’s been 20 years since Matador bought a TerraPass to offset our flyaway from Manhattan to Jersey City (but not back). It was not eco-friendly and we wouldn’t do it now. But it was a great show.
