Yeah. It's so hard to let go of @ATProtocol with the blue. It just resonates a "brand." But, @ATproto would work too (and it's shorter).

It must be Friday 😀! Lots of healthy branding discussion about this amazing decentralized ecosystem powered by the AT Protocol. My $0.02: - Be unique. - Be consistent. - Be identifiable. - Be fun. - Be memorable. 🤔 Do I say $0.00 now that US pennies are decommissioned? Or $0.05?

In the center, @ Sign In and a text field labeled "Sign in to your Atmosphere account" with a Handle or DID.

At the bottom, an explanation of "What is an Atmosphere account?" The explanation is cutoff but reads " Your social identity for accessing your data and apps on the open social internet, such as Blacksky, Bluesky, Eurosky, Northsky, Stream.place, Smoke Signal, and many others."

Been hearing "Atmosphere" may be the direction apps are going. Although I'm a fan of ATProtocol w/ blue "AT", I'm more interested in a consistent brand that drives user recognition and adoption. If "Atmosphere" is the way, so be it. Here's a redesigned NorthStar Social sign up for discussion.

Things that motivate me: - Sharing lived experiences w/ family & friends - Being out in nature listening to the sounds of the natural world - Collaborating w/ others who want to make our world a better place for all - Making & using technology that enable & empower us to achieve all the above

Every new brand has to educate their customer on their value. “Sign in with @ATProtocol” is a brand distinguisher. It’s memorable. IMO “ATmosphere” is better used to describe the collective of apps based on the AT Protocol standards. The two work nicely together.

We should be promoting "@ATProtocol" as a "brand" & educate the masses on its value statement. There'll be 1000s of apps on the decentralized Atmosphere. Using "Bluesky" would be short-sighted & counter to the message of sovereignty. I'm forging ahead with "Enter your @ATProtocol handle or did".

Using "Bluesky" is short-sighted. It's a company w/ one app of thousands that will eventually on the Atmosphere. We should be promoting "@ATProtocol" as the "brand" & educate the masses on it's value statement. I'm forging ahead with "Enter your @ATProtocol handle or did".

Agree 100%. We should be promoting "AT Protocol" as a "brand" & educate the masses on it's value statement. I'm forging ahead with "Enter your @ATProtocol handle or did".

Not a fan of "internet handle" nor "Atmosphere" nor "Bluesky" -- they mean nothing to the greater purpose of the decentralized movement. We should be promoting "AT Protocol" as a "brand" & educate the masses on it's value statement. I'm forging ahead with "Enter your AT Protocol handle or did".

There two types of account deactivation & deletion: 1) App level. Disable/remove the user from that app only 2) @ATProcol level. Disable/remove the user AND all content from APPs & PDS. The OAuth User Account Page would be an ideal location to provide App & @ATProtocol deactivation / deletion.

@pfrazee.com @bnewbold.net Just confirmed a concerning behavior when deactivating & deleting a self-hosted account in the Bsky App. It deactivates & deletes the account in the PDS thereby removing access from other @Atproto apps. The Bsky App warning doesn't inform the user of this behavior.

Apps could help drive atmosphere's consumer education, awareness & adoption with branding guidelines. It's time to separate @ATProtocol from Bluesky.
An image showing an app, eg. NorthStar Social -- People. Privacy. Period., with @ATProtocol branding. Bluesky is purposely absent.

Email communications from PDS's should also carry the @ATProtocol brand, perhaps alongside the PDS hosting provider for consumer awareness. Bluesky should be removed accept as a "hosting" provider of the consumer's PDS. Suggestion: {Hosting Provider} | @ATProtocol.
Image showing PDS email communications branded as Bluesky, not @ATProtocol. This inconsistent branding drives consumer confusion and adoption.

While not perfect, Blebbit.app, is a good starting point IMO. The only exception is Bluesky shouldn't be highlighted -- only Blebbit.app alongside @ATProtocol. Consistency is critical for customer awareness and adoption. Suggestion: "Sign in with @ATProtocol" & no Bluesky references.
Blebbit.app login screen that brings awareness to @ATProtocol. However, Bluesky is not relevant if the objective is to promote @ATProtocol as your atmosphere identity across all apps. Blebbit.app's login button for the atmosphere.

Case in point: Here’s an email sent from a non-Bluesky hosted PDS for forgot password. It should carry the Hosting provider brand alongside the ATProtocol brand. But instead it carries the Bluesky brand. No mention of ATProtocol. The changed password applies to all Apps on the protocol.
Image of the email change password response from a non-Bluesky hosted PDS. No Host branding, nor ATProtocol. Only Bluesky. A password change applies to all apps on ATProtocol. Bluesky is irrelevant.

ATProtocol should not be synonymous with Bluesky. If apps brand consistently, then end users will better understand the value of the decentralized ecosystem.
An image showing branding elements of ATProtocol alongside an app, NorthStar Social. If all ATProtocol apps and the PDS signin/up screens were consistent, end users would understand the value of their ATProtocol identity. It’s not a Bluesky identity.

This comes down to branding. Sign up & Sign across all apps, including Bluesky, should be an AT Protocol brand. Blebbit.app is a decent example of branding ATProtocol. However, it’s the Blebbit.app a user is signing into not Bluesky. End users don’t understand the difference.
An ATProtocol logo found on Blebbit.appBlebbit.app login branding highlighting ATProtocol alongside Bluesky. However, it’s Blebbit a user is logging into not Bluesky. Would be better branding to swap Bluesky with the app being logged into.

Our house: 5 years #Covid free. No restaurants. Always in N95/KN95 at work, in school & all public indoor venues. Made exception for senior year choir performances. 1/3+ choir out sick after holiday performance. Daughter tested positive on day 9 of not feeling well. No anti-virals recommended! (1/2)
