My team is celebrating Denver's Puerto Rican community performing at Circo Flamboyán, a 90-minute BIPOC and queer vaudeville-style variety show celebrating arts, community, and culture. We will be in the February 20th show but there are three other dates that are packed with performers and artists.

Peter Finch was the first person to win an Oscar posthumously for his performance as Howard Beale in Network (1976). The film's plot takes place during the 1970s recession but its themes and emotions make it as relevant today as it was then. Finch's "Mad as Hell" monologue is iconic and timeless.

Let's take a look back at what I was doing 16 years ago during the holidays...

An excerpt from an Daily Camera article published in December 2009:

"There is literally nothing else to do on Christmas," said Cooke, a junior at the University of Colorado, who watched "Up in the Air." "Everything is closed, and if you don't go to the movies, all you do is sit around all day with your family in your pajamas staring at each other."

For Crystal Preston-Watson, who doesn't have family around, going to the movies Friday passed the time - and kept her from having to accept well-meaning but sometimes awkward invitations.

"Past holidays I either spent alone, working, or friends took pity on me and dragged me to their family's gathering, which is uncomfortable to say the least," said Preston-Watson, who watched "Sherlock Holmes."

In 33 days my apartment flooded, ended a year relationship and was laid off. I hadn't planned on getting a cat until after I got back from a conference in October but seeing Dominique's cute face I had to adopt her. I think the universe knew i would need her bougie butt to keep me grounded.

Um not people trying to come for Cardi B saying she was disabled while she was pregnant. She is correct. Pregnancy with/without complications is considered a temporary disability under many programs (though not under ADA). Many short-term disability insurance policies include pregnancy.
