Depends on the failure mechanism. Maybe X many compartments get fried but not all of them. Maybe they didn't get fried, but they're all acceleration casualties because the ship came in too fast and got hit with enough Gs for the lighthugger structure to take but not the squishy crew inside.

Try this on for size: ship uses an aerobrake maneuver to slow down but fucks it. Or the planet has Van Allen belts of ludicrous strength so the ship gets surprise solar flared and everyone's dead from braking radiation; protag was shielded by *entire ship*

Unusual #BattleTech #MechPosting I got a swag jacket from work a while back. I had this idea, so I did it.

Back of a black nylon pilot jacket; painted on the back of it is a bust of a green BLR-1G BattleMaster with yellow trim holding its PPC up in one hand and brandishing a fistful of money in the other. Surrounding it, in clearly hand-painted stenciled font, is "OF NOBLE HEART AND MERCENARY MIND". The BLR is piloted by A-K and, behind them, a penguin, both in grey helmets.

It's... passable work, for a first attempt
