Religious testimony in both spiritual and public domains is often understood as a personal expression of faith, in the form of a narrative. Primarily evangelistic in function, testimonies are shared by believers to demonstrate how God has acted in their lives. Perhaps the most common testimony archetype is the conversion narrative, whereby an individual publicly affirms their faith and religious belonging. Testimonies of this type traditionally follow a narrative framework that contrasts the past with the present.
