I live in Dartmouth Family live in spryfield I’ve lived in HRM for 20 years and spent my first 15 of them exclusively using transit It is absolutely possible The govt is just car centric

He absolutely should listen to critics and he absolutely should (occasionally) give in to those demands The problem is: our mayor seems to take his own advice far more often, regardless of criticism It should almost always follow the needs of the many but seems to bend to the needs of the wealthy

Nope Investing in transit helps everyone. How many people complain about non-city drivers who don’t know where they’re going? With a proper transit service, everyone can take the bus far easier than driving themselves by bringing back park and ride

"The school said it conducted an internal disciplinary investigation in 2024" It should be illegal for schools to only do something internally. The moment an assault is brought to attention the police should be called and if they're not, the schools (and admin) should face lawsuits #BelieveWomen

So many major cities have already successfully done this. Reducing traffic congestion drastically while increasing economy (if you're walking/biking you're more likely to stop in at a local store) We have the money - we're just spending it on cars
010
Lady Sarah @sclark0621.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The problem with traffic in HRM is cars. There are too many cars on the road for our infrastructure The only way to fix it is to remove cars These are then replaced with buses (and bus lanes) and bikes/scooters (with their own lane)

why is a coffee not ok, but a bottle of water is? Many places don't offer drinks and I, personally, can't talk for more than 5 minutes without needing a drink. I'm very settled walking in and often the people I'm interviewing with have their own coffee/tea/water/etc

Lady Sarah @sclark0621.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
I almost always have brought a drink (hot or iced) to an interview because I plan my route to include it. It gives me time to settle my nerves and have a drink to clear a dry throat while talking I bring it up at the beginning (I've got my caffeine and am ready to go!)

This is less a "development" issue and absolutely a greedy landlord issue. You can build all the condos and lux units you like, but if the average NS Gov employee can't afford rental rates, there's no hope for those on IA and CPPD, etc

"many rental units likely have prices still below market rates because of the province’s five per cent cap on annual rent increases." Because I moved into my apt almost 15 years ago, we're paying just under $1200. If I moved out and in again, the rent would be closer to $3000 with no upgrades

No homework=no screens. And there are plenty of times the kids chose to forgo screens. We also love to walk places and the topics discussed are broad and, often, existential. It shouldn't be no screens (as Jade says), but it's important to place limitations Even if that's harder for the adults 2/2

Lady Sarah @sclark0621.bsky.social · 30/07/2026
There is no doubt that screens affect a child's development. It certainly impacts adults, and our frontal lobes have finished developing (technically) For our kids, we give "homework" before screens are allowed. Colouring, a math page, reading from a history text. 1/2
