Countdown to Disney: 2 weeks. Wow, that crept up on me.

Matt @scientistmjb.bsky.social · 06/03/2026

I was a big proponent for rotation but limiting the cardpool to only 1 year of sets is too narrow. The game felt best right before the first rotation - we need a deeper cardpool for a healthy meta. That plus cutting back on large events felt like a step in the wrong direction. Makes me sad

Excited to see the reveal for the Gen 10 #Pokemon games. Very surprised that we get a dog starter finally an BEFORE we get a water cat.

Bluesky adding a “what’s up” create post line at the top of my feed is giving me some serious 2005 Facebook wall vibes.

Feeling kinda guilty for taking off the next 2 weeks, but the company has a use it or lose it PTO policy so it wasn’t exactly my fist choice. It’ll be nice to have time with the family and not have to be parks in front of my computer for the majority of the day.

Woodworking going well. Finished my furniture piece and also a bunch of smalls to sell. Etsy shop established and my postings will go live this weekend. Fingers crossed, because this is a fun and productive way to spend my free time and a side hustle would take away some stress.

Just confirmed the math. If you include phone thickness, the new iPhones are only 34% “larger” than the original (in cubic inches).

Too much “holiday cheer”?

Mine grows fast too. I let it get pretty shaggy and it still needs a full cut every 6-8 weeks.

Does anyone else feel like there has been an unnaturally high amount of visible lower latitude auroras this year?

SF trip turned out really fun despite some setbacks. Phoenix was a good time for sure - always great to see family.

On vacation in San Francisco and the only think on MY list of things to do was see Muir Woods and despite multiple pivots I’m still not able to do it. Disappointing

I prefer fake, but my wife loves a real tree and I do enjoy the family activity of going to pick one out every year. I DO NOT enjoy the $150+ I get stuck paying annually for it, but it’s a fun family tradition

Haven’t had as much time with #Pokemon Legends: Z-A as I would like so far, but I’m enjoying it.

Why hasn’t a company developed a weather-proof solution to the “review booth” setup for football? The trash bag that is nearly ALWAYS taped over the top feels like there must be a better option

New hobby - woodworking. Not entirely new, I’ve been doing woodworking since I was a kid with my dad but I recently made something for the house and I’m inspired to try to build something to sell. Will see how it goes but I’m hopeful :)

I’ve got some time set aside for cards with a friend this week - probably some GLC #pokemontcg. Couldn’t come at a better time - I’ve been having a stressful rough time lately and could do with an unplug - even if only for a few hours.

#Lorcana friends - what meta decks should I be interested in? Not what is just winning, but what is going to be fun to play? Previous formats I’ve enjoyed ruby/am, emerald/am… basically tempo midrange stuff.

The new #StarTrek episode of #StrangeNewWorlds was excellent. They’re really crushing it this season. It’s the most “Trek-y” that Star Trek has felt since Enterprise.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted! Still at the grind for the new(ish) job and back from another work trip. Hit up another new card shop again though which was awesome. Other than that, still enjoying some TCG. Building a new #MtG Commander deck and ready to dive into #Lorcana Fabled.

Matt @scientistmjb.bsky.social · 07/08/2025

Trip to Richmond went great. Work stuff went well enough and even though my free time there was limited due to some flight delays, I still made the most of it. Awesome hike one day and visited 4 different LGS for the #Pokemon collection and the new #MtG commander deck.

Kick some butt, and drop me that list when you’re done :)

New #MtG set looks cool with the space theme. Upcoming #Lorcana set has me very excited with new rarities for cards. #PokemonTCG set is dope but it’s impossible to buy cards still which makes me sad. Overall, great time to be a #TCG fan

This week for #Lorcana Locals it's time to get back onto the more chilled out band wagon. My Set Champs deck is made so I don't need to worry about that for now. This week it's time to try out 🟣🔴Winger Dingers. Saw the list and it made me very interested! Looking forward to giving it a try!

Anyone from my feed hail from the Richmond, VA area? I’ll be heading there for work in a few weeks and I want to hit up a couple LGS while I’m there! I want to find the best stores and google sucks for that. Possibly to play some TCG but definitely to shop and socialize. #TCG #Lorcana #PokemonTCG
