At your local rink or in the Stanley Cup Final, you’ve seen Inglasco’s pucks on the ice. They’re the NHL’s exclusive puck supplier, and they’ve been based in Sherbrooke, Québec, for more than 50 years. So remember: behind every puck drop and every goal, is a little bit of Canada.

The science of climate change had led the nations of the world to take action in 1992. Since, political action has been disappointing. Major reasons are disinformation & related climate denial. Extreme weather events are worsening, causing death and destruction. #ClimateBrawl

This plot doesn't pass the smell test. The two putative El Niño records show essentially no agreement. That's unsurprising: The tree-ring record is not a reliable annual reconstruction of past events (see: bsky.app/profile/mich...). The coral record I've discussed elsewhere: bsky.app/profile/mich...

In MBH99, we stated the "1998 [was] the warmest year, at moderately high levels of confidence". That was based on a continuous record of annual mean temperatures & careful estimates of the uncertainty in the annual values. We're not yet close to having that for El Niño for the past thousand years.
