#SciFi #sciencefiction #art #design #film #filmsky Syd Mead was an American artist, illustrator, industrial designer, and neo-futurist concept artist. His future cities, vehicles and technologies shaped the visual language of modern futurism and late twentieth-century science fiction. (see alt)

Triptych made for The Automotive Fine Arts Society Show at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Monterey CA (2000). It features cars from the past, present & future (the Cadillac at far left was Mead's). The entire scene is washed in a sunset glow, inspired by what Mead called the "Kurosawa Moment"—a tribute to the iconic director’s warm, cinematic light.

In 1983, Syd Mead was commissioned by the World Sports Fair in Tokyo to create 3 paintings depicting the future of sporting competition. The works represent the 3 colors of the fair's prize winning ribbons: Gold for Running of the Six DRGXX, Blue for Race Ball, and Red for Tokyo Bay Boat Race.

All text stolen from Syd Mead's "X" (Twitter) page. The poster version of the "Race Ball" painting has the World Sports Fair info printed on it too.
