One of my novel's important characters I haven't talked about yet, and can't talk about unfortunately due to spoilers. Learn more about the mysterious snow leopard Spring 2027 when I publish my novel (hopefully). Design by my illustrator @ariakey.bsky.social. #booksky #writerslift #furry #furryart

My novel is coming along nicely. @ariakey.bsky.social, my illustrator, has now completed about half of all the drawings for the first book. About 11 more to go. We keep it simple with black and white drawings just like what I showed off in the past. #writerslift #booksky #bookboost #furry #furryart

I've made a few changes to my plans for the publication of my novel. Here's a quick summary: - 2 books instead of one (2 books, 1 big story). - Illustrations in both books. - Hopefully faster release. Read the full version: www.furaffinity.net/journal/1139... #booksky #writerslift #bookboost

I also decided to go with something another cute fella, even if it belongs to the spider family. Even I who hates spiders, I feel comfortable with it (and I hope it doesn't bother you when I link it): insektenliebe.com/de/magazin/s...

I wanted something cute, because, let's face it, insects are rather unpopular when it comes to to anthro characters and I want readers to feel comfortable with the characters. It was already pretty tough to find fitting species for my first project. And, oh boy, here we are again. 1/2

I'm currently waiting for my editor to finish her work. I'm using the time to make first notes for the sequel of my novel (for the lolz and out of boredom). I decided to go with this little fella. la.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yponome... It fits the first inspiration I got from WoW for this character.

Things have gone rather quiet around my book project. That’s because there's not much to report. My editor is going through everything a second time. And there are some (as yet) secret developments taking place behind the scenes. But I'll have a big announcement to make soon… #writerslift #booksky

"I've always known you were a pain in the ass, but I never thought you could be useful either." "What has two middle fingers and doesn't give a fuck about what you think?" – Malcolm Granger and Lindsay Mac Cullen Some of the best scenes in my novel are when these two hotheads clash. #booksky

"Have you come here just to tell us about your failure? If you're going to vouch for your defenders, perhaps you should go and apprentice yourself to them straight away, primus." – Sister Gritea Chapter 28 of my novel is special. It focuses solely on the religious Order of the Equinox. #booksky

"Ladies and gentlemen, I’m afraid we’re sitting on a powder keg." - Professor Lewis Townsend Stranded in a strange world, with infrastructure in tatters, food shortages, fear, uncertainty and more. In a lengthy speech, the PE and Geography teacher warns of the collapse at Kilima boarding school.

I can say without the slightest doubt that my greatest strength is writing dialogue. Debates in which different worlds clash stand out in particular. Youthful stubbornness vs years of experience. Religion vs science. Bureaucracy vs enthusiasm. More to come the next few weeks. #writerslift #booksky

Last four characters completed. That brings this little side project to an end. Over the next few weeks, I'd like to focus more on the book and look at some quotes. #furry #furryart #anthro #writer #author #writerslift #booksky #art #gaming #rpg

What if my novel were an RPG? Jessy is a minor character in my novel with a mysterious background. She is the go-to person for the most explosive news. Her unique fever skill exposes the enemies' plans. #furry #furryart #anthro #writer #author #writerslift #booksky #art #gaming #rpg

What if my novel were an RPG? Amy starts as a very minor character, even as a sidekick character. She probably has the most character development. Her unique fever skill is a powerful emergency heal. #furry #furryart #anthro #writer #author #writerslift #booksky #art #gaming #rpg

Back in the days, I used Fanfictions to vent my frustration about silent protagonists in video games. Shinx, the proud stray, is the embodiment of emotions, (his) uncompromising opinion and the inner voice that is shouted out to the world. I owe that little rascal a great deal.

I had to make this very (bad) experience just now with a RPG. Five minutes – and the player character already follows blindly orders and doesn't question anything anymore. I can see that players want to get into the action right away. But I don't want to sacrifice authenticity for this. 3/3

You don't just suddenly fall into a fantasy world and automatically become a hero. You don't follow blindly orders without thinking about it or questioning these orders. It's like growing into a suit of armor. It takes time. Character development takes time. And so does authenticity. 2/3

I cannot emphasize this strongly enough: I place great importance on ensuring that my novel's characters come across as authentic. They act in keeping with their personalities and evolve slowly and believably, even though the story takes place in a magical world. 1/3 #booksky #writerslift #bookboost

Next four characters are completed. By including both a positive and a negative ability, the character's personality is well emphasized. Would love to explore my own novel world in a RPG/JRPG. #furry #furryart #anthro #writer #author #writerslift #booksky #art #gaming #rpg

Balance is some sort of "resource" in my fictional game and plays a major role in my novel. Having optimal balance is essential to survive in my novel. In my fictional RPG, shifting the balance of a party member and the enemy can provide benefits and drawbacks like higher attack or lower defense.

What if my novel were an RPG? I adjusted the 4 four characters slightly and also gave them a negative ability. Because, as every author knows, a character can't just have only good qualities (looking at you, Andrew). #furry #furryart #anthro #writer #author #writerslift #booksky #art #gaming #rpg

Well, first four characters are done. I think Jordan's and Ricarda's passive abilities could be slightly stronger (maybe by another 5%). But it's simply theory crafting. #furry #furryart #anthro #writer #author #writerslift #booksky #art #gaming #rpg

Ending thoughts: I think a (fan-made) audio book is the best approach for accessibility. Because I, as a small indi author, simply can not afford (time and money) to rewrite and republish my novel.

If I were to write a book, I would have to write two versions as well. => Lot of effort + costs for me. But the reader has the option to chose what they like. If there's only one version out there, I ignore one of the two sides. Making something too simple to read or too hard. Pick your poison. 2/2

The difference lies in the option available to the user/reader. If my mobility is limited, I can use a ramp instead of tormenting myself by using the stairs. It's the option I have. The not-handicapped person has the same option. If there's only a ramp of the stairs available => no options. 1/2
