Republican PR choices: 1. Absolutely nothing to do with us, her family is to blame for not getting vaccinated. 2. How dare you Democrats attack the religion of this poor woman and her family! Now is not the time to discuss vaccination policy.

This is about the only case I can think of for a humanoid robot being useful, one that highly visibly watches where the bike path crosses the access road and immediately fines/sends police after bad actors.

There's a difference between "AI could be conscious" and "Claude right now is a conscious being". Not clear what was being argued.

This is why other countries have professional diplomats as ambassadors, not political hack appointees. Dems are somewhat better than Rs on this. Let's hope they become a lot better in 2029. www.msn.com/en-us/news/o...

Ukraine offered its anti-drone rockets to the US in August 2025 and the Republicans turned it down. Many of the 18 American deaths are due just to that, along with every other stupid and immoral thing they've done in power.

For distances under 6 miles, I highly recommend e-bikes. My Class 2 is only modestly faster than a regular bike but it's super convenient and fun, and uses a ridiculously small amount of juice to move you around.

When Republicans oppose democracy (gerrymandering and keeping the Electoral College) it shows they're the ones who hate America, because they don't want the American people to run their own country.

Another important solution is to not adjust the cost basis upon inheritance. The heir should take the same cost basis as the person who bought it. That would reduce a lot of the incentive for this gaming.

I used to donate to a shelter for women fleeing domestic violence in Kabul. It's gone now, of course. So as to your question, Afghanistan isn't better off now, but some women at least were better off for a while.

Biden should've continued supporting the Afghan government but only where it had popular support, in cities and nearby. I think this would've been viable. But yes, Bush decided to make it all much harder.

I don't think Newsom deserves a lot of credit for signing legislation when the hard work of getting it passed was done by someone else. "Thanks for not getting in the way," I guess? I'll give credit if he actually worked to get it passed, but no indication that's the case for these bills.

Unsure if Josh is saying this but I think there is a problem if when trying to view an article, a website asks for your email first, and then tells you there's a paywall for the article. They took your email address and gave nothing in return. I've had this happen with a MSM site (not sure which).

The non-reporting on Fox is unnecessary but objective evidence proving that Schmitt lost badly in that exchange, and proving who really is the dirtbag.

Some might interpret asking MPs what they're doing "personally" as being limited to what they do in their personal lives. While what they do there isn't nothing, it's far less important than how they vote. I like Katherine's formulation of what matters most.

A phenomenal moment in the Senate. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., claims he has evidence Jack Smith went to a HAWKS game in Atlanta. Smith denies it. Schmitt declares he has busted Jack Smith for perjury. Smith, vexed, says he went to HAWKEYES game in Maryland. WATCH IN FULL, UNINTERRUPTED

I work in local government here in the US, and they don't do that in my area. The complaints from Petola's staff suggest it's not generally accepted at the federal level. I could see an argument for this assistance being paid for by government funds, or just via a higher Congressional salary.

The article doesn't indicate whether David attempted to talk to Wiener or his campaign. I'm not saying he didn't try, just that there's no indication of that in the article. I'd think a discussion of either the attempt or the reason not to try is warranted.

I view this as proof of concept that 1. there's a market for ultra-rightwing-targeted EVs and 2. the sales level for Cybertrucks proves how idiotic it is for the market leader to have a CEO that appeals only to that segment and alienates everyone else. And then there's the whole morality thing....

Agree that this stuff about Petola doesn't rise to scandal level, although she should use better language, not yell at staff, and not have staff (esp staff on government payroll, campaign staff might be different) do personal tasks.

As to the narrow issue of planning for war with Cuba, that's the military's job - plan for the entire range of potential events, and they do this all the time. The question might be if they're doing some kind of especially urgent planning or updating of a prior plan.

Mash is answering Katie's narrow question about water not being in lungs. Whether other evidence points to murder is a separate question.

Interesting to watch the battle in the comments between "irrefutable proof of murder" versus actual knowledge of drowning. Former is pulling ahead of the latter. (Note I'm just discussing water in lungs - Katie's question - the whatabout otherarguments for it being murder are other arguments.)

The kicker is if that artist successfully sues for damages for copyright infringement, then taxpayers pay it. Maybe it's already a good First Amendment suit re spending government money on what's clearly a campaign ad for the Republicans.

Some of the dumber criminals need to be reminded about this very real possibility, maybe it might deter them slightly. And Vance thinks he has future political prospects, even if he loses in 2028, so he'll have to weigh that anticipation against the gain from pardoning criminals.

So your prediction is that Democratic majority will not take control of the House of Representatives after the election? In 2025 lots of people said the Nov. 2026 elections weren't going to happen, which looks pretty wrong to me now.
