Has it ever been stated anywhere what Perkins & Pogue's rejected pitch for PSYCHO IV was? I am insanely curious about what they'd conjured up as a possible story for it.

Remaking Fulci's THE BEYOND is a tall order. If you can find a director with a unique vision willing to take the same story and make it their own, you could end up with something worthwhile. The remakes of SUSPIRIA and MANIAC come to mind. Just don't get someone who wants to make a half-assed copy.

A major pet peeve mine? Working a day. Then having a day off. Then working a day. And then having another day off. I can never actually relax under these circumstances. By the time I actually wind down on the day off, I start winding back up for work the next day. I get no real rest. It's the worst.

They may well do it around then and let Villeneuve field some questions about it in the Dune 3 PR circuit. Even producer Amy Pascal herself has been saying to expect an announcement by the end of the year, if all goes well.

I *do* think the new actor will probably be announced by year's end. Just not on James Bond Day. Amazon is going to want that announcement to come all on its own, instead of on an "expected" media day where it will also drown out all of their Bond merch/advertising partners' announcements.

The Schlocketeer @schlocketeer.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I hope not, but I also wouldn't be all that shocked if it was simply titled "BOND" or "007".

I have little doubt that we'll get something in regards to FIRST LIGHT. Probably not a sequel announcement, but maybe some DLC news. And they'll definitely push Higson's KING ZERO and the other recent Bond-related books that IFP has been publishing. Maybe some comics news too, perhaps.

Maybe, if we're lucky, we can get some 4K UHD release news about the Moore, Lazenby, Dalton, and/or Brosnan films. But a casting announcement for the new Bond actor? A title for BOND 26? A release date for it? Nah. Not gonna happen. Not yet.

I feel like anyone who is expecting Amazon MGM to announce the new Bond actor on James Bond Day tomorrow is just setting themselves up for major disappointment. I really wouldn't expect much more than some merchandise announcements, as well as further promotion of 007: FIRST LIGHT and KING ZERO.

...but on the flipside, that doesn't also mean that we still owe our time to listen to the ugly opinions of racists, homophobes, transphobes, misogynists, etc. Because we don't. We owe them nothing. It's on them to change their ugliness. Or they can fall off of a cliff. Either is acceptable.

Made the mistake of reading the comments under a post about REACHER already getting renewed for a sixth season. Soooooo many insecure dudes whining about Reacher almost dying at the hands of two knife-wielding female martial artists in S4. I hope S5 and S6 give them even more things to cry about.

Frankly, I'm just happy that Shout Factory's release of Mann's new cut of MIAMI VICE will actually also contain both previous cuts of the film. Generally, his disc releases only have his latest cut and none of the others.

My wife has similar issues with actors. She tends to refer to them by the movie she most associates them with. Russell Crowe = "Gladiator" James Earl Jones = "Mufasa" Cary Elwes = "Princess Bride" Brendan Fraser = "Monkeybone" Her (pointing at actor on screen): "Oh, is that Gladiator?!?"

Agreed. This is why I also don't expect them to ever reuse Fleming titles, even if they ever end up reusing or remixing the plots/characters of his books in future films. (They'll probably leave title reusage to others once the Fleming books hit public domain in a little over a decade.)

Honestly not sure why anyone would get mad about a Mann recut at this point. There are at least 4 different cuts of MOHICANS, at least 3 of MANHUNTER, 2 cuts of HEAT, at least 3 of ALI, 2 cuts of BLACKHAT, and now 3 of MIAMI VICE. Recuts are a Mann staple, for better or worse.

SPECTRE has an on screen credit for Kingsley Amis in the end credits, for instance, because that film pulled a sequence out of COLONEL SUN.

Any time a Bond film has used material from a non-Fleming novel, they've had to pay IFP for it and give them a small credit for it in the end credits. They'd be bound to do the same here, even if only the title was used, since IFP beat them to that title.

The Schlocketeer @schlocketeer.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The publisher, but they'd have to license the book from them to use that title. So then Higson gets a check. Amazon isn't going to want to tick off Ian Fleming Publications. Not when they're gonna need their help promoting the next film and not when their site benefits from sales of IFP's books.

I think there's a good chance we get some sort of Cregger-produced sequel that continues in the same vein. In the end, money speaks louder than an angry subset of gamers with an online bullhorn.

I do think the genre could do with more competent characters on a regular basis. If only because it would force the overall writing to be more creative to compensate for smart characters. (But people are really dumb tho.)

I do not owe my time to placate the stupidty and ugliness of others. They can fix themselves on their own time or drown in their own lack of worth. I have better things to do than waste my energy on people who do not value the lives of people who are different than them.

That's what they get for not actually paying attention to the public discourse surrounding AI. Sure, Boomers and many Xers & Millennials might be game for it, but near as I can tell, the vast majority of Gen-Z and Gen-A despise it. So good luck on AI actually being a lasting investment. It won't be.

They're making everyone anxious about it because they themselves are anxious about it. They NEED it to work or they're gonna go bankrupt. You know what? Let them. They should go bankrupt for being that stupid. Let the market actually cut the knees out from under them when the AI bottom falls out.

To be fair, most actual people are dumber than a bag of hoe handles. So I've never really taken issue with horror movie characters following suit as a result.

THE THING. That said, Carpenter basically had a perfect run from 1976 to 1988. Very few directors have managed such a stellar run like that. 10 excellent films, 2 great TV movies, and a couple cool producing projects as well. All worthy of being declared someone's Carpenter fave.

I think it is worth it in this instance, as III has a very different vibe. Plus it's hard to resist the siren call of "Anthony Perkins got to make his own Psycho sequel this time!" Especially when you find out his influences on it. Save that reading for afterwards though.
