sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 04/04/2026Reading the Bostonians atm and, like, I expected Basil Ransom to be contemptible, since that’s, y’know, the point. But I was not prepared for just how loathsome he was going to be. Every word out of his mouth makes me want to chuck the book against the wall. 000
sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 02/04/2026sincerely sad to learn that people really be out here skipping the introduction, the fore/afterward, the author’s note, and the acknowledgements! That’s where the juiciest morsels live! 000

sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 17/12/2025been a minute since I watched this docu, but what I remember taking away from it was revulsion at a man who projected human emotions onto a non-human creature and proceeded to violate ethical boundaries core to conservationism in the name of fostering a "connection" that could only ever be illusory. 020

sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 25/09/2025One of Obama’s finest moments as President was early in his first term when he was throwing out the first pitch at a Nats game and had this big shit-eating grin on his face as he pulled out a battered old White Sox cap to the loud boos and jeers of everyone in attendance. 020

sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 27/08/2025Annoyingly, wikipedia and allmusic can be synergistically unreliable when it comes to music data. Wikipedia says this album came out in 1970…ok and what’s the citation for that? The sole citation is a link to the allmusic page for the album. And where did allmusic get that year from? 🤷♀️ 020

sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 26/08/2025See, I actually do like my healthcare and I use it a lot! I pay a low premium, my pcp and pharmacy are a 5 minute walk from my home, getting labs, visits, and scrip refills is easy, and OOP costs are covered by an fsa they have on file. But then, I’ve basically just described a single-payer system. 010
sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 24/08/2025Currently finalizing 1970 in my albums list. Was looking at George Benson’s Other Side of Abbey Road. Probably omitting it from the final list, but it was such a pleasant, funky fun listen. I think particularly in counterpoint of Booker T’s take on Abbey Road from the same year. 010

sophie @schlaufuchs.bsky.social · 16/06/2025this is the piece that always gets me about "genital preference" discourse. I can think of a thousand physical, emotional, or medical attributes that would be sexually disqualifying. Yet somehow it is only transness that gets imbued with this grand ethical weight of IMPERATIVE IMMEDIATE DISCLOSURE. 141
