Both Apple and Google's smartwatch charger pucks have permanently attached 6-foot USB-C cables. Compare to Steam controller charging puck: about the same size, but a port instead of a permanent cable. This makes it easier to travel with, and customizable to your setup. How is this not obvious?

My cart is a wishlist. 50-100 items in there is normal. I check a few things when deciding to purchase, the rest stays put. Some things are in there for years. The new sort method has decimated this method, and I doubt I'm alone. Bezos gonna have to wait on that sixth yacht I guess.

You can get "Gollum" for $1.45 on Fanatical. Retail was $50. I've never seen such a big discount on a licensed game from such a legendary IP, but that definitely explains the piss poor reviews! But at that price, I am honestly tempted...

Honestly though, the fact that you supposedly don't get encryption at all without signing in sounds ludicrous even 10 years, let alone today! (I've always had a Pro license on my main PC so have always used bitlocker, this is a secondary one with Home on it.)

I'm 99% positive this "sign in with your Microsoft account to finish encrypting this device" message on Windows 11 Home is 100% BS, otherwise there would be heavy disk activity in Task Manager immediately after, or during/after the next reboot, but nothing happens other than the message disapearing.

I still mostly write code the old fashioned way (cuz I enjoy it 😱), but AI does a lot of bonus stuff that I've come to appreciate. Claude Code has been great, but Claude itself has gone to shit. Enter Zed 1.0, out today! Running w/ local Gemma 4, it's exactly what I needed, exactly right now. 👍

Mac OS X first public release was 25 years ago today. I remember the date well because I graduated college a few days prior. Not an Apple fan anymore, but I was so excited at the time that Mac was finally getting modern OS features & a unix-like backend for real web development. It was a huge deal!

I cannot recommend acupressure enough when you have a headache or you're feeling nauseous. Those $20 mats on amazon work great, as does just simple pressure on your wrist tendons. I've only recently discovered these, but what I wouldn't give to have known about them decades ago!

An AI browser whose only feature is detecting the nasty medical pictures you inevitably see whenever you search up even the most innocent medical issue you may be having, & hides them behind a click-to-reveal box with an AI generated description, so you only see them if you ***really*** want to.

Origin and referrer are technically different but for all intents and purposes, they are the exact same thing. Seeing this finally confirmed my suspicious, and further testing proved my hypothesis: Elements inside of an <iframe sandbox> will not send a referrer header.

I'm not saying that it shouldn't work this way, I'm just saying that it should be documented. The closest I found was mozilla's docs discussing various scenarios when the "origin" header might have a null value, and it mentioned sandboxed iframes. developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

Elements inside of an <iframe sandbox> will not send a referrer header, even if iframe is same origin, unless you have "allow-same-origin" set, which... mostly defeats the purpose of a sandbox. This is not documented or discussed *anywhere* online #webdev #protips #yourewelcome

The mobile web is intentionally way more annoying than desktop, because these companies want you to install their apps so they can spy on you. Luckily, ad-blockers on mobile work just as well as desktop and filters out 99% of this garbage. I mostly only install apps if there's no other option.

Will there even be a PS6? Current gen consoles are so underwhelming and untalked about, 99.9% of the games are available on PC, and they're not really cheaper than PCs anymore. Nintendo at least has exclusives, but I don't see a future Xbox or PS succeeding 🤷‍♂️ www.theshortcut.com/p/ps6-leaks-...
