We’re working on some extra bits to the Silmarillion - more news to follow in the new year.

You’ll get your tracking info as soon as I post it… though I’m sure the Hobbits at your end are reliable, it’s always good to be able to keep an eye on where it is.

I’m afraid digitally it’s separately - they are with different distributors at the moment. I’m hoping to consolidate this at some point in the future but for now I can’t group them.

It’s on digital purchase only - Presto Music or similar. No streaming as they are niche musical products and we’d never get our money back on the projects if reliant on the small returns from streams and we’d never get to finish our work.

Always a possibility, we’d have to see how much there is and what we can achieve with it at different funding levels. It is a very niche thing, so I’m not sure how it would fare.

010

Simon Crosby Buttle @scbuttle.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

It all depends on funding for publishing, but I’m working as if we are - it’ll just be a little while yet.

Simon Crosby Buttle @scbuttle.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

We’re working on the songs and piano music first, but gathering everything else up we can on the way for down the road. It’s become a much bigger project than originally anticipated but not an unwelcome development…

We are asked regularly about the work of Paul Corfield Godfrey, especially how one can approach his now enormous connected cycle of operas based on the works of J.R.R. #Tolkien. @scbuttle.bsky.social of Volante has put together a video that listeners may find useful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1lY...

Glorfindel in added as another named elf was required to greet the dwarves and he was already part of our LotR recording. If these were performed live some of this doubling of characters would be impossible but on an audio recording it’s more than fine.

010

Simon Crosby Buttle @scbuttle.bsky.social · 08/01/2026

Easily managed in this case - some people on LotR did eight roles. You’d be surprised going back to the original book how little some characters actually “say” by themselves.

Paul Corfield Godfrey uses Tolkien’s actual texts to create the libretto for the operas. We used a chunk in The War of Wrath - it could be worth an investigate though, but texts are not as abundant for that era. B&L is already out - Paul wrote a full cycle of the Silmarillion.
