Ok so I drifted yesterday but we played more after this. Next was Takenokolor which I got a physical copy of at a con. I won that game by a decent amount. I am debating laminating this one & getting dry erase markers for some of the pages to make things reusable. #boardgames

I clicked no initially when I was asked if I wanted to go in there. I went in for a few moments, but it was just quiet. No one was talking. They said voting was done & folks could go back into the main room, so I did. It was weird. I am very curious how folks may have been filtered out.

They sent some folks to breakout rooms which seemed confusing bc I'm unsure if some of the questions on the initial ballot didn't allow folks to vote ie: the item about if someone had lived experience with homelessness which I answered that I did & I got put into a breakout room after I voted.

After that we played a chill little game called The Finest Fish. The game is very aesthetically satisfying imo & a bit thinky even for a game I feel was more marketed toward kids. You draft & place scales on goldfish to try to complete drafted objectives. Very cute imo but I’m a little biased.

1st up was a trial game of a friends game who asked if we would be down for testing. I didn’t take pictures of it because of it being in development. I also got massively trapped & couldn’t get out of it which ouch on my part. Game was still fun & had magnets. Will be curious about further dev!

Oftentimes the people that get affected the most by this are people who are from poor &/or marginalized backgrounds. A statement of not being happy can be twisted into being a "threat" which can permanently mark someone's life for the rest of their life while claiming to be "saving" someone's life.

On World Mental Health Day, I'd like to ask us to consider about how everyone's life is not constantly at a state of sunshine & roses but so many are subjected to oppression & weaponization of their feelings by others who go to the state to ruin lives. This needs to change.

Update on this: today was still feeling like scratchy at the back of the throat but mostly feeling better. When I played audio of how badly I sounded earlier this week, my friends thought I was joking & not playing my own voice. It was BAD. Thankfully it's not permanent though. Whew!

Something silly & small for Friday: I unlocked a new #boardgame achievement. I recently started doing tournaments on BGA and had some luck in the first round of a Don't Stop tournament. I qualified for the next step. Does this mean I don't suck at games now? :p
