This same AI that can't even copy jokes well is the one writing a lot of the code we rely on, for everything. Safety included. I don't know why people abdicated their role right away to AI. Hopefully they're right and nothing bad will happen...

So nothing. Got it!

Can someone explain to me what the link is with the Fani Willis thing? I don't get it (And that whole thing is just nonsense spun into a problem for political interests)

And someone rightly points out that we're supposedly 100x faster than we were in the year 2000 🤥 bsky.app/profile/john...

I don't really know why the software development world has fallen in this delusion, but here we are claiming "10x improvements" again based off vibes

The beauty of pulling numbers out of your ass 🙂

I would say between June and end of August they're there the whole time. I haven't watched attentively, but I'm pretty sure they're there in the summer break when there aren't events on the square

The umbrellas are there every year, though

As you can imagine, countries try their best to keep interests low, and if they grow quite a bit, you have a whole series of problems that make the whole situation worse and it can get out of hand. I hope it is clear enough!

If investor have low trust in you, you have to offer higher interest rates to convince them to lend you money. When the bond expires and you need to pay it back, if you have a higher interest rate on new bonds you are replacing older, cheaper loans with new more expensive ones.

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I don't know if you got an answer that clarified but here's my explanation: Countries will issue bonds, which are basically a promise to pay back some money with a guaranteed return. The more "trustworthy" the country is (meaning the more likely you are to pay back the money) lower is the interest

You fell for their marketing hook line and sinker. It's exactly what the models have been trained on. That's exactly what humans do when performing such challenges. You are being tricked by these companies to believe that AI can do more than it actually can
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
AI has been doing exactly what they've been asked and trained to do, nothing more. They trained them on what humans do in the sort of problems that they posed AI, and AI copied humans. That's it

Oh I guess I'm late this year, again, on my tax declaration because I'm lazy. Yeah must be a bad apple. No other explanation!

AI is already damaging the lives of thousands I'd not millions of people, entire Magazines are being emptied of meaning - whether AI can actually do the job or not (no: it can't)

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
So unless someone can explain how exactly we know that there aren't such limits, where is the ceiling, I going to take that as pure hypothetical that have little to do with reality. And also, maybe let's do something about the very real, very current issues, rather than tomorrow's hypotheticals.

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
In the same way, forever improving AI to make it smarter, but also more energy efficient (because it needs to run within the constraints of what exists!), assumed that there isn't a plateau, a hard limit that can't be breached. There's plenty of similar assumptions between here and AI doom
120
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Maybe I'm just unfamiliar with the research, but I've always seen assumed that infinite improvement is possible. There's this idea, for example, of a super intelligent AI that figures out new physics to kill us all, for example. But for that to happen, those undiscovered physics need to exist!

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
The thing that bothers me about the "AI research about AI risks", when it comes to this self-improving AI that escapes our control, is that it doesn't seem to acknowledge the possibility of innate limits.

"my subscription is the most egalitarian source of information" What??? Do we need further proof that AI makes people dumber? Also, the internet is largely free. Getting the subscription version of it is somehow... Better?

People will clap for anything as long as the guy on stage is filthy rich

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
I don't think a "covert" video of him just talking to people drives any point home. That's why he tells the Meta glasses to record when starting to talk to someone
010
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The point is that Meta employees themselves know how bad this technology is, they realize how creepy it is. And it's just a guy playing the creep in this case

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
These glasses should be made illegal

We disagree on what Patricia said, I guess. I'm done being patronized for today.
000
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Yes I'm not ignoring that. Plenty of white dudes are ignored and not being listened to. So no, I don't buy this one. Saying that there's no merit to the white dudes breaking through the narratives, even if they're saying some things that were said before is an extremely misguided interpretation
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
I believe you. I'd also like to point out that I'm not saying that there isn't sexism or racism. What I'm saying is that you don't fight that with reverse racism or sexism.

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
"His knowledge or competence is irrelevant. He has the power to define reality solely based on his gender and skin color."
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Ah but this is more nuanced than "it's only because of gender and skin colour" though. Also, it could also be that you are more persuasive than your predecessor, it is not necessarily about gender and silkin colour (although bias is likely)
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
It just isn't true that being a white guy is an immediate ticket to being listened to or being taken seriously. The issue is way more nuanced and complicated than that. And these generic statements hurt people who just happen to share genetics with the dominant group, with none of the advantages.
110
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
You're missing the point completely. Not even close. What Patricia said is that being white and man is the only thing that matters, to then immediately backtrack (because, turns out, being white and man isn't enough).
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Who, Ed Zitron and Cal Newport??
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
You didn't today, and you're also accusing Ed Zitron, Cal Newport of this based on the fact that you didn't like the episode 🤷 I didn't either, but saying they have no merit whatsoever and that they're getting traction just because they're white and men is something else
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
I'll get over myself when YOU do it. It's ironic because you're no better than the people you criticize. You didn't add any nuance, you didn't have an insightful or useful observation. Just flat out "it's only because white and man". Didn't even mention the women you supposedly were trying to raise
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
I listened to the episode days ago, found it boring
000
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Because *you* tell yourself the story that you're held back by social injustice and what not. But the random schmo - he's just bad. And you're helpfully reminding that. "Oh don't get offended, I'm not talking about you! But I might if you get successful"
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
If you, in 2026,don't understand how you're punching down on the random schmo who happens to be white, male, and at the bottom of the social ladder, maybe you should seriously give your words a hard think.
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
If can't help but now down every man you know in your fight for "equality" I can't help you
200
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Hurtful and untrue. Reality is more complex than "white and dude", and TBH I expect better takes from you.
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Then why did you say "He has the power to define reality solely based on his gender and skin color." You essentially said "these dudes have no skill or knowledge, yet they are famous", which is the same as saying about you that you gained notoriety because you fulfill perfectly the diversity quota
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
So is it about skin color and sex or is it about something else?
210
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Uhmmm I could say *anything* and it wouldn't be worth listening for anyone, despite my skin color or gender
100
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
To be fair, there were people warning us about DRM and similar technologies, but they were successfully framed as extremist views
051
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
There could be many explanations. They could believe it, since you have to drink the kool-aid to work there. Or it is also possible that it is all a publicity stunt, maybe even organized by the company itself. We'll never know
020
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
And the guy was stopped at the next zebra crossing 30m down the road anyway because we were right in front of the ETH University in Zürich, where there's lots of people walking and crossing the street. I'm not sure why that street isn't more pedestrian friendly, TBH
000
Stéphane Bisinger @sbisinger.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Yesterday I was crossing the street, very visible, and this dude in his super expensive Mercedes proceeds to not stop at the zebra crossing and instead raise his hand as to say "sorry", while continuing to drive. The arrogance!
