I love front matter. All of it. Dedications. Prologues et al. And back matter - wowee - wonderful acknowledgements and bibliographies. They wrap stories up in reasons. Specially for you, intimately, the reader. With red bows sometimes too. Miss them when they're not there.

Yup— it's addictive—finished my 17th @nanowrimo.bsky.social on the 18th, carrying on to the 30th with @megpokrass.bsky.social's fab 300 words or less microwrimo prompts & having a blast while all the time fighting deep nerve pain from my 10 week+ shingles. Nov = 1 draft novella & 30 microfictions

10.5 weeks into PHN from Shingles. It is no joke. @nanowrimo.bsky.social distracted my brain thereby reducing meds that changed my writing to off-the-wall weirdness which I have actually come to like. Weird.

Beautiful fractured storytelling from @laurabesley.bsky.social I love how this piece plays around with time, each fragment rooted so clearly, and chiming in intriguing ways against what comes after and what comes before. #FlashFiction

It will never not be amazing when the exact right word appears in a story draft and thus rearranges your understanding of the material by its presence. One of the moments of surprise and awe I’m always writing toward, but also almost impossible to force.

17th @nanowrimo.bsky.social for me - inspite of agonising shingles deep nerve pain - I am lured once more. Brain fog from shingles meds = something a little different from me this year. Dystopian maybe - but so delighted I can remember some of my schoolgirl Greek. Who's in?

To all those who asked, & to those who didn't know, shingles is not to be taken lightly. It's not the rash, the blisters, it is the deep inner core pain that prevents sleep. Meds that take you to a place you do not wish to go & an irritable characteristic you didn't know you possessed.
