I went through some traumatic things as a young child, and developed OCD essentially as a coping mechanism. I used to have to do everything in 3’s. I went to a museum and felt compelled to touch a sculpture. I was caught, and then spent the day agonizing over not being able to touch it twice more.

Lol. Like anyone could deserve it LESS. I have to admit that one of my first thoughts was that I’m way more deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize than the Orange Shitgibbon for constantly mediating continuous damage and drama from the other parents in our kids’ families (whom both have NPD and/or ASPD)

If you can't adopt there are lots of other things you can do to help. Foster, volunteer, fundraise, do a supply drive, sign up for your local shelter's newsletter to find out other ways to help. Remember that volunteering doesn't necessarily mean physical labor - shelters need all kinds of skills!

Just took loperamide for the first time ever. Hoping it helps, because the diarrhea will not stoppp, it’s going into day 5, and I really don’t want to need more IV fluids 🫠🥲 At least my orange boy has been hanging out with me in my misery and giving me lots of lovey blinks 🧡

Welp. 10 hours in a packed ER, multiple sets of labs, 45+ oz of oral fluids and 2 bags of 0.9% saline later, I am now an acceptable-enough-for-discharge level of dehydrated. I’d had a few days stress/med change diarrhea but I really thought I was hydrating ok 🤦🏻‍♀️ Dehydration. Silent until it isn’t!

Peaches came to us at the end of May after 13 hard years on the street. His time outside definitely showed, he was in horrendous shape and weighed 5
Ibs of mostly fleas. Since then, we have been managing his various conditions. He's dealt with anemia, congestion, gastric ulcers, kidney disease, horrible dental disease... the list goes on. We've been slowly chipping away at these issues and he was actually starting to feel pretty good! A couple weeks ago, he started backsliding and I've been trying to figure him out. This weekend, it became clear he was declining and what I was doing at home wasn't enough, so I had to admit him to the hospital.
Peaches is dealing with an infection, dehydration, another gastric ulcer, pretty awful congestion and a mild hit to his kidneys. Thankfully, after 24 hrs of fluids, he's showing improvement. Through all of this, he continues to have the loudest purr and best headbutts for everyone who helps him
I feel hopeful that we can get Peaches back on track and give him more time to feel loved and cherished, something he missed out on for his first 13 years of life. If you're able to pitch in $1 or $5 toward his care, we would all appreciate it more than you know.
Everyone who has met this little guy knows how special he is and how much he wants to stick around

I think part of why losing Greta is being so hard on me is because it’s during the same week (a few years later) I had to leave my soul cat behind to save my eldest and myself from DV. This is such a hard time of year on top of everything else. I’m not sure what this experience was meant for yet.

There are literally so many peer-reviewed papers on this. This is not opinion this is a biological fact. There are so many cool vegans who still understand that their cats cannot choose to remove themselves from the food chain, eating meat isn’t an ethical choice they can make. Hannah Shaw is one!

I know we only had her for a short time. I know her family missed her, was worried sick, and is so happy and relieved to have her home. I know we did good. But I look at her empty bowls I haven’t been able to put away yet. Her cat tree and room all set up. The extra big box of wet food. Her toys.

Today is such a mixed bag. Good news first: follow ups with migraine and epilepsy clinics have all been going well, and they are officially NOT recommending any anti seizure meds at this time. The experts aren’t sure it even was a seizure rather than horrific migraine, so more positive outlook 👍

@crits4cats.org, any advise on what to do with a greasy cat? I’ve been gently wiping her down with warm damp washclothes and brushing her (she is so calm!!). At first she was just completely dusty and dirty, but her fur still just feels icky. I think it’s excess oil from stress?

Someone has been feeling a little icky from the vaccine antibodies. We did some brushing, ear meds, and topical dewormer/flea/tick meds, after which she went to hide and sleep for awhile.

Little one is at the vet now. She is doing just lovely! Hissed a little with vaccines, but got distemper and rabies shots done. Testing for FIP and FeLV. Checking in on probable ear mites, and getting deworming, ear treatment, and flea meds. Female, likely intact.

My husband is extremely worried about whether she’s pregnant, because we can’t handle a litter of kittens. Part of me wonders if that’s why she’s been out, dirty and hungry, if she was let out on purpose due to being intact. If she is, it’s not far along at least. Vet opens tomorrow morning!
