In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties. The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized. Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

If you're Canadian, please sign this! You'll have to confirm your signature via email but for good reason--this is a petition sponsored by an actual member of parliament. These petitions can lead to actual meaningful action here. Doesn't take very long, please add your support!!

Happy Labor Day 🙂

2 shots from tv show Frasier. One shows Frasier holding a sign, "You're Fired." The other shows the producer of his radio show, Roz, holding a sign that says, "I'm union".

Hey canadians. Theyre continuing to dig in their heels on ID verification. Let them, and your govt, know how you feel about this issue and how it will not protect kids.

There's a petition to drop this bill in ourcommons that Canadians can sign. It takes like 2 seconds and is super easy. We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to immediately withdraw Bill C-2 in full. www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en...

I just called and you can too (or e-mail) by looking up your MP via this link! www.ourcommons.ca/en/contact-us Among all of my listed concerns the Q I asked that had the most effect was "If this bill is meant to focus on gun smuggling, human trafficking, etc, why does it also single out refugees?"

My first actual post on this website is fittingly mourning the loss of my first home on the Internet. Thanks to everyone that made Polygon special, especially the Daily crew in the forums, you were and are an incredible bunch of folk. Good luck to everyone looking for jobs. Fuck capitalism.
