Sketch Cover for Absolute Catwoman #1, my first sketch cover. It was quite the endeavor diving back into traditional art, finding the right tools for this and learning how to use them. #comicart #illustration #catwoman #absolutecatwoman

Photo of a comic book titled "Absolute Catwoman". The cover of the comic has original colored art drawn on it in pen and marker, showing a woman in a cat-themed suit and helmet, riding a motorcycle, looking back over her shoulder while carrying a large rifle. A black pen, purple marker, and white gen pen sit beside the comic book and black desktop. A white card lays above the pens reading, "Original Marker Art by Scott Saxton on Absolute Catwoman #1 Blank Sketch Cover @saxsays.bsky.social" and then signed with an artist signature and artist mark readingn 'SAX 2026'.

I'm doing a follower event over on Unvale.io for Oct; a Halloween costume party. People submit an OC and costume description, and I do Inktober-inspired headshots of them. First 3: Vampire Cece for @yakkolicious.bsky.social, Mecha SG for STG02, Tawny Poison Apple for MangosGalore

Black and white digital ink-style sketch, portrait of a woman dressed as a vampire, in a large collared cape, white collared shirt under a vest, choker with large jeweled brooch, fangs with black liquid dripping from the corners of her mouth.

Black and white digital ink-style sketch, portrait of a stylized block-head character dressed in a robot-style suit that appears to be made out of cardboard and tape. They hold their 3-digit robot hand up in front of them.

Black and white digital ink-style sketch, portrait of a woman dressed in an evil queen style outfit with a crown, her face and hair appear to drip from her like molten candy or candle wax, on side of her face partially revealed to be a living skull. The drips run down onto an apple grasped between her hands, forming the image of a skull, implying a poison apple.

I did three test passes of this using different pen types before settling on the Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen fude nib, hard & medium, for the final pass on the actual blank cover. The pens have more of a brush tip, can get pretty detailed, and felt the most comfortable to me. #wip #comicbook #art

I was noodling on character designs yesterday and landed on a “techno-cat” concept. I started throwing on color as that can sometimes help set the tone or direction of a character. I’d love to hear people’s preferred colors, or even different ideas I didn’t think of. All opinions welcome!

Concept sketch of a female presenting cat-themed cyborg, labeled “technocat concept sketch WIP”

Color variations of a cat-themed cyborg concept, light blue and pink labeled “cotton candy A”, yellow and brown labeled “jungle cat B”, and purple and green labeled “bad kitty C”

Color variations of a cat-themed cyborg concept, green and gray labeled “green ranger D”, red and gray labeled “red ranger E”, and gold and gray labeled “gold ranger”

Color variations of a cat-themed cyborg concept, tan gold and warm gray labeled “desert camo G”, tan gold and dark teal labeled “desert mirage H”, and tan gold and red labeled “Iron-cat”

I took on a character design project for Undertale on Unvale this week. I was in between artworks and thought I'd flex some creative muscle on something new. This character is a guard for a species called Sykras, specifically a Sylverian. I think it turned out nice.

Character design concept art, front, side, and back views with arm and hair cutaway to see the full sidebody and back details. The character is a dark skinned humanoid character with large webbed fish-style ears, long shiny silver hair pulled back into a ponytail, wearing highly-polished silver armor over dark grey padded underclothes, and holding an ornate silver sword. While almost entirely monotone, besides the skin tone, the only color is a dark red hair tie that holds a small dagger-shaped hairpin.
