Well where would you be without Wessex’s contribution to global gastronomy…The Lardy Cake?

David Cameron’s decision to hold a referendum runs it a close second. His austerity programme was the source of so much discontent he couldn’t own up to.

Believing in Brexit is a euphemism for xenophobia, largely an age related malady. The future is European.

CU, SM, in which FOM is embedded, yes, as a destination. But we have a long journey to get there, and won’t arrive until the racists, xenophobes and hate mongers have been faced down.

I emailed my MP asking for publication of the report in full. His office is investigating. He’s a convert from the Tories to Reform! Still waiting.

David Cameron, the careless Prime Minister, has much to answer for.

Great to hear the PM say “We are going to be much prouder in standing up for our values and the rule of law” re foreign information warfare. I wonder if he or the Home Secretary might consider doing the same when it comes to masked vigilantes shutting down infrastructure and harassing the RNLI

Two of the constituent countries of the UK voted Leave, thus stretching even further the bonds of Union. When the law of unintended consequences is invoked, it affects all of us.

A gradual approach, as proposed by the LibDems and now Labour is the only way. We have to tackle our addiction to xenophobic spite porn first.

My fishcakes need a side dish with a sauce. I usually do leeks in a bit of cheese sauce, making a roux in the pan with the finely chopped cooked leeks.

Lots of talk of growth ahead of the Budget, as if it were a baroque puzzle. Our problem is basic. It's that we no longer support the things which facilitate growth: Europe, immigration, higher education, tax simplification, policy stability. These are all choices and could stop making them anytime.

This can’t happen until there’s a realisation by the voters of 1. The desirability of joining 2. The necessary commitment 3. The complexity of negotiation Since our mainstream and social media is filled with distractions and exceptionalist opinion, there’s a way to go.

Citizens’ Assemblies? Impartial expert briefings on the subject, then discussions involving people holding different views with an aim to find agreement.

5. Realistic Rejoiner, recognising the history of special pleading, the enormity of the necessary commitment, and the difficulty of proving the demonstrable will of the people to rejoin.

80 year-olds with pro-Palestine signs: arrested as terrorists. Greens planning to block a road, to highlight an existential crisis: sent down for years. Masked far-right thugs blocking roads and ports, using intimidation, obstruction & threatening behaviour: no arrests. The real two-tier policing.
