Watching Pillion (2025) for the first time, and while I can’t help but critique that the British working-class are perpetually suspended in the sort-of-seventies, I do enjoy the continued cinematic queering of Bromley (see: Pride (2014)), one of the straightest suburban places I’ve ever visited.

If you want a “fun” yet “mildly stressful” experience, I would thoroughly endorse catching a screening of Jaws (1975) in 4DX.

Last night I watched In The Mood for Love (2000) for the first time, a 35mm print at The Prince Charles (classic). Couldn’t help but notice some parallels in both the theme and visuals with Umbrellas (1964) — fitting given the period of Hong Kong history Wong Kar-wai hones in on.

I adore how It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) depicts its angels. Clarence has waited 200 years for his wings, he’s reading Tom Sawyer, yet all we see is disembodied voices flowing from the stars.
