obviously there's a LOT more to digital sensors and maybe the actual chemistry of film isn't that crazy compared to the things we're doing now. but man... it's still amazing.

film has a reputation as this super old fashioned analog thing, but... i think of film as a crazy advanced technology. digital sensors are pretty intuitive - computer sees light, makes pictures - but film? crystals catching photons in an emulsion? how the fuck did they come up with that?? insane.

i'm continually amazed that film works... some silver crystals floating in a jelly did this... people 150 years ago had to figure out how to turn a weird liquid into pictures... chemistry is *magic*, dude.
