I got the best photo ever of Queso the other day, although I can't decide which version I prefer.

Listening to the latest Extra Credit episode at work earlier (thefmin.us/the-power-of...) I was struck by a vivid mental image and had to commit it to paper. Enjoy your Reiki-Induced Deer Multiplication:

Today felt like the right day to start getting to know my incarnation of @margravelucian.bsky.social's Threshold Tarot. I decided to devise my own interview spread. It was originally going to be 4 cards in a cross, but at the last second I added a fifth. Here's the pattern:

Got a lot of patience and respect for Zach as an artist and communicator, but no. Fundamentally no. If a philosophical question is phrased in a disingenuous manner that obscures the actual debate but only *can* you reject the premise, but often you have a moral duty to do so.

The guy with the ponytail, Bluetooth headset and leather jacket who famously and rightly rejected a disingenuous question about choosing betweenrights and stability.

If anyone is interested in my interpretations, here's my steam of consciousness notes (transcribed in the alt text of you have trouble with my handwriting):

Attunement Reading: Todd Alcott's Sci-fi Tarot
Three-card spread:

1. Which card best describes you as a deck?
XI- Justice: Balanced, merciless, & unflinching. Actions have consequences and the consequences will be delivered without favor or prejudice. This deck is not sentimental, but also she is not cruel. She endeavors to be fair in her assessments and answers to questions, but will not shy away from harsh truths. She favors honesty and good intentions, but will not let this influence her if the outcomes are negative in spite of this. She is particularly unflinching towards those who might upset the balance of things. She is particularly concerned with the choices people make.

2. What type of readings do you prefer?
II of Wands: She is particularly interested in answering questions related to planning, decision-making and investigation. She prefers to answer questions relating to pursuit of a specific goal, or investigating a specific thing. She favors binary choices, and questions with specific answers. She is somewhat detached and dispassionate. Despite favoring the binary questions, she is not afraid to tackle topics of grand scale and significance, but may be uncaring of the scope of her impact beyond the specific goal, and she can be somewhat inscrutable. Most in tune with the physical world.

3. How can I be a better reader?
Page of Cups: Be free-spirited, joyful, and open to surprising discoveries. Despite the somewhat harsh nature of this deck, she should not be taken too seriously. While she herself is serious, she does not expect or wish this from those consulting her. Instead readings should be playful. Despite the fact that the Page is dancing through treacherous chasms, she has wings that will surely help mitigate any seemingly dire consequences. She has freed the strange creature from imprisonment and marvels as it flies around her. Be bold, make big leaps, but don't take it too seriously!

Queso is still obsessed with the observation post set up in our office, but Pimienta is starting to get annoyed that this obsession is taking precedence over his preexisting devotion to her. She's taken to coming in, looking at him, then going to another room and meowing very loudly.

We also took Pimienta home. She's far more shy and has spent the majority of the time hiding in a safe spot under the bed, but Queso checks in on her regularly, and when she comes out she's incredibly affectionate to us and utterly devoted to Queso.

I looked up the artist and found a Wikipedia page for some screenwriter who clearly just has the same name, but then I looked at the guidebook and !!!! One of the screenwriters of Antz makes really cool retro art and tarot decks!

Text in a pamphlet: "bringing a new aspect of the tarot to light, in accordance with shifting morals and fashions. I have included one such example from the early 21st century in this presentation. It was created by a late 20th-century artisan named Todd Alcott, about whom almost nothing is known except that he once co-wrote a wildly inaccurate motion picture about the lives of ants. It is easy for us in the Galactic Hivemind to see fortune-telling humans as delusional, solipsistic, or insane. But it's important to note that tarot querents were engaged in a form of self-analysis, wherein they examined their troubles through the peculiar lens of the tarot."

On a short vacation in the mountains I went into a gift shop and found this delightful tarot deck by @toddalcott.bsky.social. I thought it looked fun and purchased it, but now I'm getting a chance to look through it and take it in it may honestly be one of the best things I own.
