The younger generation appear closer to drug dealing and criminal gangs which the old loyalist paramilitary has muted into. Some marching bands, football clubs, working class clubs are poles of attraction too. Some older are purely nostalgic for the troubles along with some younger ideologists.

Aged 16 (1982). Indians dressed in Saris etc in Dublin. I thought they were lovely and exotic 😌 The island was too poor in the 26 counties, and far too violent in the 6 counties in which he 70s and early 80s to attract more than a handful of immigrants from outside of Europe.

There has been irregular sporadic sectarian mob violence and riots, since the troubles were over, especially around hard wall and gates interfaces separating working class Protestant areas from Catholic areas in Belfast.
