@aoc.bsky.social get people in front of the camera (phone/ photos/ stories/ interviews) and have them share how the insurance hikes will impact them directly. We all have insurance issues and it will continue to bond all of us and show who is and isn’t fighting for us.

Requiring a donation of $25.00 for a food pantry should not be allowed. Forcing those already in need to fund overhead is wild work. I will scream about the lack of resources in rural communities as a social worker outside of exploitive churches. #SocialWork #RuralCommunities #FoodPantry

How’s a person supposed to schedule normal life activities with a rapture coming up in just a couple days? Do you operate as normal? Make plans and just ghost everyone? Pay bills or just risk it? And is the day adjustable at all!? You know what have a good trip I’m good here. ✌️ #Rapture2025

The image features a hand holding a book with a vibrant cover against a background of leafy green plants and a large yellow mug. The book has a purple cover with illustrations of a man and woman standing back-to-back, both holding weapons. The woman is depicted in bright pink overalls, while the man is in black clothing. Green zombie hands reach from the edges toward the center figures. Above them, a quote reads, "Love can make you lose your head." The background plants have large striped leaves, and the yellow mug has a dark handle. Overlaid text in the image points to features like "Plus Size FMC," "Zombies," and "Vampire."Bright Pink Background, Black Letters at top “ Book Review”. white box with review: Edie is a human and she realizes that the zombie alert system has come down and her frat bro neighbor, Chad is not actually Chad. Instead he is a French Vampire named Gaston (aka Max). These two end up working together to combat zombies, facing what might be putting the zombies in motion. They encounter adventure troop girls, witches, trolls, fae, and so much more.

I loved this one so much! The banter between Max and Edie had me laughing so hard. Especially the Gaston song parts.😂 The gory parts didn't bother me. Something about reading them vs watching them. I liked the topics in the book too that Olivia brought in grief, loneliness, and putting up walls to protect oneself.

I always appreciate the way Olivia writes fat rep and how body positive they are and body neutral. I really loved seeing a zombie book with a plus size main character it made my heart happy.

Let's finish this by shouting out the narrator, Joy Nash. I adore Joy and the way she brings the characters to life. She added to the humor to me and I found myself laughing harder. Highly recommend the audio but make sure to grab the physical because it glows in the dark.

Found Family

Vampires, Ghosts & Witches

My Thoughts

I continued with the Odd Blood Series this month by reading, Weird Blood. My feelings about this series as a whole has remained the same– it’s such a fun, unique, weirdly cool book series and I am just obsessed with them.

Josephine is recovering from being possessed in book 2 and she is coming to terms with her feelings for Eadwulf. There is a masquerade ball for the Vampires coming up and Josephine has to learn all of the customs and dances. There is some tension and angst as Eadwulf is reaching her how to dance and I just love their dynamic. He is such a Himbo and hilarious.

Josephine is a late bloomer and she has not been intimate with someone before, she is demisexual and Eadwulf is the first person she has developed feelings for to get to an intimate stage. There are the Ashley Witches that come in and I really loved how campy Azaela made them.

If you love found family and like some quirky weird paranormal type books I really think this series is for you.

Below the book cover is a yellow text box with a review about the book, “This sapphic romance highlights small town life as Opal buys a floral farm after she wins the lottery. But as she quickly learns when she shows up at the Thistle Bloom Farm there is a grumpy Pepper who declares that the farm is hers. These two strike an agreement where they live together and work together to save the farm and make it profitable. I love Mazey’s writing. She manages to bring in humor, love and also discuss some heavier topics with still keeping up with the romcom type feel of her books. I also really appreciate that she writes characters that are neurodivergent or have mental health.”The image is a collage featuring the book cover of "Falling Back in Love with Being Human" by Kai Cheng Thom centered against a textured, white plastered background. The book cover displays abstract shapes in shades of red, orange, and black with stylized, flowing lines. Text on the cover reads "FALLING BACK IN LOVE WITH BEING HUMAN" in large white letters, with "LETTERS TO LOST SOULS" and the author's name in smaller font. Around the book cover, three curved black arrows point to the terms "Depression," "Trans Author," and "Radical Love." Below the book cover, a yellow text box contains a personal reflection on the book,”I will NEVER shut up about this book. To me there is no reason to not pick it up. It is short, not an easy read because it make you have to reflect and sit with your emotions. Kai is a trans woman who writes short essays/prayers/poems/letters that tackle mental health, being a sex worker, being trans in a society that does not see all your beauty, letters to Johns, an address to JKR, love to young her and other trans people. After each entry there are 2-3 tasks to do/questions for you to think about. This book will make you explore yourself and humanity.”

📕: When Javi Dumped Mari- Mia Sosa 💐: Friends to Lovers 💼: Planned Out FMC ✨: Broadway in Progress #Booksky #BookReview #WhenJaviDumpedMari #MiaSosa
The image is a colorful book promotion featuring the cover of a novel titled "When Javi Dumped Mari" by Mia Sosa. The central element is the book cover, which depicts an illustrated couple against a cityscape backdrop. The man is offering a bouquet of pink flowers, while the woman has an unimpressed expression, standing with her arms crossed. The city skyline in the background features tall buildings in hues of blue and purple. Above the book cover, the main title "When Javi Dumped Mari" and the author's name "Mia Sosa" are prominently displayed in a pink frame. In the bottom left corner, there is a pink and blue director’s chair with a brown handbag resting on it. The top right corner has an illustration of pink flowers and green leaves. The image is a digital representation of a book review with a pink background. In the upper left corner is an illustration of a dark green briefcase with a handle. The title centered at the top is "My Thoughts," in large pink text, followed by "When Javi Dumped Mari - Mia Sosa" in italic pink text. The review text is in black, “ I adore the books that Mia writes. You can always expect a lot of laughter, banter, family, friendships, swoon and spice. Mari is Brazilian and the daughter of a lawyer. Her mother left and went back to Brazil, and she was raised by her father who had her career and life mapped out. Enter in, Javi who is Puerto Rican, an inspiring Broadway musical writer and he does not have his life figured out or “together”. While Mari is going to law school and getting her degree he is bartending and working a couple other side jobs.

Mari and Javi met in college and became really good friends. They both have had a mutual attraction to one another but have never enacted upon it out of fear. The fear of losing their friendship. However, 6 years prior to current time in the book Javi ghosts Mari after a visit out to see her. She does not understand why. However, they reconnected about a year before current time and Mari is about to get married to someone else and she wants Javi to be in her wedding party.

I appreciated the way that Mia gave us past and present with these two. We see their friendship, PINING and their fall. It is a true slow burn and friends to lovers. I felt for Javi who never felt good enough for Mari. You also feel for Mari who although she loves her job constantly feels the pressure to live up to her father’s expectation.

The audiobook by the way is phenomenal and I highly recommend!”

📕 : Glory Be- Danielle Arceneaux Recommended by @takemeawayyy.bsky.social *Mystery *Red Hat Society *Mother/Daughter Duo #Booksky #BookReview
A book review layout featuring the cover of "Glory Be" -DANIELLE ARCENEAUX on a tablet, with soft peach and pink background.

arrows around the book with the following: Mystery Mother/Daughter Duo Red Hat ClubI am so glad that Nikki (@take_me_awayyy) recommended this mystery book because it had me cackling out loud.

Glory is a Catholic and part of the Red Hat Society in Lafayette, Lousiana. She is a bit of an outsider in the group due to her business, being a bookie. She is best friends with a woman who joined the nunnery who supposedly committed suicide. Glory’s daughter is in town due to some personal issues that happened in her life, and she is an attorney. She teamed up with her mom to figure out what happened to Glory B’s friend.

They get caught up in a dog fighting enterprise, a drug dealer, someone who is stealing and trying to get Glory kicked out of her home and so much more.

This book also talks about mental health, grief, love, and loneliness. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

The image features a composite design with a background showing a wooden railing and bare tree branches against a cloudy sky. Superimposed on this scene is a book cover in the center. The book cover depicts an illustrated city skyline at sunset, with two characters sitting closely, holding wine glasses. The title of the book, “I'll Have What He’s Having,” is prominently displayed in bold, white text at the bottom of the cover, with the author's name, Adib Khorram, below it. The right half of the image includes a pink background with the words “BOOK review” in stylish black and white font. Two pink star-like shapes are placed on either side of the book cover.Peach background with spiraled notebook design with the following written: I finished out Pride month with this M/M romance story and I am so glad it was my final book of the month. Farzan left teaching and now just does substitute teaching and working in his parents Iranian restaurant in Kansas City. He made a reservation under an alias and that name just happened to be a notorious food critic. David, the sommelier (in training) was trying to ensure the “critic” had the best treatment. The sparks were flying between these 2. A one night stand ensues and they go their separate ways due to Farzan not wanting a casual relationship and David not wanting a long term relationship because he wants to get his sommelier licensing and go to California.
However, fate intervenes and they do in fact end up in a spicy situationship. I loved both of them and the way Farzan had to learn to see himself as worthy and David had to let connections in life happen. This one is spicy! 🌶️ oh and you will get hungry with all of the food so make sure to have some snacks on hand. 😃

Shield of Sparrows- Devney Perry *Slow Burn *Arranged Marriage *Monsters/Creatures Recommended by: @cover2covertx.bsky.social #Booksky #BookRewiew #ShieldOfSparrows
The image features a wooden shelf with various decorative items and a book displayed. On the left, there is a pot filled with a plant featuring dark green leaves with light green stripes. A carved wooden duck with a smooth, polished finish is positioned next to the plant. The duck has a painted black eye and rests on the shelf, partially obscured by some of the plant leaves. Beside the duck is a small portion of an orange ceramic pot. In the foreground, a book titled "Shield of Sparrows" is leaning against the pot. The book cover has a dark, intricate design with illustrations of flowers and tree branches. The background is a soft off-white wall. The entire scene is framed by a pink border with white text overlaid on the left, reading "BOOK review."The image features a designed review titled "My Thoughts" against a pink background with white waves and abstract shapes. The text is contained within an off-white, paper-like rectangle with a flower graphic in the top right corner. The words "Monsters," "Arranged Marriage," and "Slow Burn" are highlighted in colored text: green, blue, and purple, with arrows pointing to phrases in the review. My Thoughts "Cassie, @cover2covertx convinced me to read this one. She set my expectations with saying that although this is a fantasy romance the romance is more subtle compared to the fantasy/world building. Odessa, is a princess that was engaged to her kingdom’s army commander. However, all of a sudden a prince who was supposed to marry her sister, May declared that Odessa would be the only person to meet the Shield of Sparrows agreement. Odessa is tasked with spying on her now husband’s kingdom and his guardian. But the world is filled with monsters and these monsters are acting differently than normal and getting more and more ruthless.

I loved the audiobook! The narrator, Samantha Brentmoor did a FANTASTIC job bringing Odessa and the other characters to life. I really loved the world, the monsters/creatures and the SLOW BURN. There is a viking influence in the book. I did guess one of the unveilings of a character and that wasn’t disappointing to me as it was expected. I also think there were some editing issues with the book in terms of repetition in some of the sentences. The book ends in a big cliffhanger and I really want to know what happens next."
