This is Brian from Horsmonden in Kent, UK. I attend a local art class and he kindly came and sat for us. He told us all about his early life and even sang us a few songs. A true character! Pastels on pastelmat.

The dramatic story of Anne Boleyn tearing a locket containing Henry VIII's portrait from Jane Seymour's neck is one of Tudor history's most famous and cinematic legends. But is it Fact or Fiction? #anneboleyn #janeseymour #tudors #henryviii #historical

We have the first female Archbishop of the Anglican Church here in the UK. I’m not religious but I feel this is a massive step forward for women and a slap in the face for misogynists everywhere. Here’s a meme I made. Anne Boleyn would be very happy ❤️

My next project is this Holbein sketch of a young woman who some believe may be Anne Boleyn. As I am drawing the outlines of her face on to my canvas I am starting to feel the similarities between them, in the shape of the nose and outline of the cheeks. So I concede, this could be a younger Anne.

My finished portraits of Queen Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of King Henry VIII of England. One of the most well known Tudor royals. Based on a 500 year old sketch by Hans Holbein. I really love medieval history and Anne Boleyn is one of my heroines. She was unfairly executed for adultery in 1536. #tudors

Any Tudor history fans out there? I have now completed my chalk pastel version of the Queen Anne Boleyn Windsor sketch by Holbein. The portrait in the left is my first portrait of her in oils. I played around with the backgrounds in both and was able to use artistic license for her clothing.

Here is my recently completed oil painting of Queen Anne Boleyn. I have used Holbein's Windsor sketch as my reference. I chose this particular Holbein sketch to paint because, in my opinion, it is the most accurate depiction of Anne still in existence. #anneboleyn #thetudors #history #oilpainting

Henry VIII gifted Anne Boleyn a dressing gown in 1532 made of black satin and trimmed with velvet which took more than twelve yards of material, highlighting Henry's extravagant spending on her. And now for the fur on her arms. I have chosen to paint sable which was reserved for nobility.

Portraits are hard 🤨 This one was an art class study but it had to be freehand using largish brushes. This doesn’t sit well with me, I really prefer precision. Given the choice I’d have used a grid for this and got the dimensions spot on. #artists #portraits #movies #marilynmonroe #paintings

No confirmed portraits have yet been discovered of Anne Boleyn that were painted of her while she was alive, but this particular sketch by Hans Holbein really excites me because many believe that this could be her. It’s known as ‘The Windsor Sketch’, and I’m going to try to bring it to life.
