One of the most pleasant surprises about coming back to Phish has been finding out they have taken this song into the Phish fold and given it a righteous Phish treatment ❤️❤️❤️

I wish I could read the R.S. Reggie Watts article. I'm not opposed to paying for journalism, but I can't subscribe to everything. Barring a limited # of free articles or subscribers having a limited # to gift, I wish some major publications would offer access to one piece only for a small fee.

Phish at Fenway Park. Setbreal. Videographer kept showing dude on the jumbotron and the crowd cheered for him every time.

Theater tonight ❤️ Very poignant that the 1st play I see after leaving Peru is the work of a friend & his husband. And it’s great work. Chris Grace: As Scarlett Johansson is fantastic & this is its last week at Portland Center Stage. Highly recommend! & if it comes to your city, GO. Viva el teatro 🎭
Five photos in one frame including the program cover and inner credits page of the one-person show “Chris Grace: As Scarlett Johansson” (written and performed by Chris Grace and directed by Eric Michaud), the marquee for the show on a lamppost outside the theater, and a photo of Chris Grace and I (male of Chinese descent with short black hair in a green sweater and white female with longish brown curly hair wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with a blue floral print).

I’m back in pdx for a couple days after leaving just over 1 yr ago. It is 5 months since my husband’s passing. It’s also the 1st time in years I’m on my own (son wanted to stay home alone—an important milestone). Instead of our apt, I’m in a hotel. And I’m trying to be ok (yes, I went to Powell’s).

My husband passed away 2 wks ago. Finally got through to the hold system of one if his retirement accounts (vs being booted due to system overload). The estimated wait was 43 min. Been on hold for 1 hr 17 min and counting. This is not how to treat calls from people who need to report such a thing.

The reason I’ve been fairly unengaged on here for many months... Due to complications derived from living with Parkinson’s for 30 yrs, my husband of 20 years passed away, quietly, this past Sunday at what became our current home in Lima with me at his side. I’m numb and can’t yet comment further.

This is our makeshift menorah for this year. We are not where we planned on being and in the midst of intense family medical care abroad having recently moved into a new apartment without most of our belongings. I came to really love our makeshift menorah.
A rectangular serving tray a green flower pattern and a makeshift menorah of yellow tea lights set on top in the pattern of a menorah with the “shamash” on the right in a clear glass tea light holder, with the rest of the tea lights arranged on a rectangular piece of tinfoil. The candles are all lit for the 8th night of Hanukkah. The tray is set upon a round glass dining room table.

Sunset (a beautiful pink diffused all across the cloud-covered sky) above the tops of apartment and office buildings in Lima, Peru. There are two signs in the bottom left corner of the photo. One is a lit-up yellow sign with green writing: Tai Loy (an office supply and craft store chain). The other is a billboard with a soft yellow background and purple can of beer an purple writing: Cusqueña: Quinua / Regresó por tiempo limitado (back for a limited time).

PSA for International Day of People with Disabilities. Having a physical or mental impairment is not a failure. Barriers to access for people who need them sure AF is. Denying access takes away people’s dignity. Make it your goal to remove barriers every day. Access is a human right. #IDPwD

The AIDS quilt is such a striking example of quilting and other traditionally feminized crafts as radical queer politics and I hope this encourages people to learn more about the rich history of protest textiles in the US.

My favorite thing I've read today. ♥️🙌🏻
The Paris Review's latest Instagram post: a quote from Wallace Shawn's interview.

"I wrote another play, and nobody liked it. And then another. But still, I thought, These people are crazy, I'm going to devote my life to theater."

Spanish translation: Escribí otra obra y a nadie le gustó. Y luego otro. Pero aun así pensé: Esta gente está loca, voy a dedicar mi vida al teatro.

A reminder of how one's reality/life experience is shaped so much by what's around you, and what you seek to surround you and allow yourself to see (or what is handed to you in the absence of choice). You can very much choose your reality or your reality is chosen for you, or something in between.

I really hope white people moved by the haka dive deeper into their statements like “I have no Indigenous rituals or connections.” What you’re experiencing is *immense* grief. Generations of your family separated from their ancestors, their communities, their land — likely due to fear and anxiety.

The department had a biologist from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife review the three videos, who concluded it was
"clearly a human in a bear suit," the insurance department said.

I started noticing this the more proficient I became in Spanish–that my ways of being/expression in general would shift when I’d flip between languages. At first I was worried I was “acting.” But then I realized it was totally natural. I’m a slightly different person in Spanish than I am in English.

I am voice & movement coach (& overall facilitator for my husband/director–whose health declined prior to rehearsals–w/ his son as co-director) for his production of The Cherry Orchard. 1st work I’ve been able to do in yrs. Hard, but a labor of love–for my husband, the theater, the team, & myself.
Me, viewed from the right (white woman with dark brown, shoulder length hair, with a few white strands visible). I am seated in a blue sweater, with a plays-script and notebook on my lap, and a pen in one hand, and one arm outstretched, giving notes to an actor (who is out of the shot). Sitting to my right, more out of focus in the shot, is my husband. He is wearing gray jacket and prescription lenses and is looking toward the conversation I’m having with the actor, to help explain the direction he is giving the actor, which I helped him prepare beforehand, so that I would be clear about what he wanted to convey.A group shot on the stage of the cast, in costume, and core production team of El jardin de los cerezos at the Centro Cultural de la PUCP in Lima, Peru. It is a screenshot if one of the actors’ Instagram stories in which he asked folks for comments. The question above the photo is “Did you already see it? Tell me how it was.” The comment below that says, “Simply wonderful-of the best that I’ve seen this year!!” The text at the bottom reads “I’m back with more comments because we only have three shows left. And, well, if you’ve already seen this wonderful play, it’s due to the great team behind the scenes, too.”

Another repost of this oldie for the new influx. Much shit has gone down since then & this doesn’t really cover all of me–just the one thing (which has been a struggle, but hoping for a renewal/refocus after turbulence settles). Oh yeah…I’m 50 now…whatever that means. Rock on, I guess ✌🏻 #writing

1/3 Saturday am. Following a bunch of people. Still at the hospital with my husband. Lots to arrange before he gets released. Of course it will now all entail extraordinary amounts of home care support with many specialty medical supplies, treatments, and apparatus,…
