One of my wishes for 2025: Labour needs to take forward mandatory animal welfare labelling, which Defra consulted on before the election. Here’s one mock-up:
A mock-up of an animal welfare label, with 5 categories. A, B and C would exceed baseline UK standards; D would merely follow UK law; and X would be for imports with unproven standards. Picture based on a Defra example but with adjustments.

Great time to introduce myself as I’m attending #BES2024. I’m interested in teaching and urban ecology. My research focuses on how people's decisions affect the ecology of wild species and I’m presenting tomorrow about how walking dogs off the lead increases disturbance in UK lowland heaths.
