Reading about the visitors to the British Museum's Bayeux Tapestry exhibition not constantly moving, as instructed, and am reminded of my visit to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where we all did this funny shuffle to prove we were moving, because of the guns pointed at us. Just an idea.

Bloke, walking past a van outside my house, arguing with a woman behind him, lifts one windscreen wiper on the van and continues walking. It's not his van. The woman puts the wiper back down as if what he's done is normal. When I say I've done nothing today, watching weird people is what I've done.

I'm going to the 2027 Jerez Festival (a big deal flamenco thing, in which the best dancers in the world both teach and perform). My friend and I both got the workshops we wanted, which given thousands, internationally, attempt to book, is amazing. I am giddy (and sick) with excitement for next year.

I won two games of chicken this morning with the same silly man. He obviously was dissatisfied having lost the first game, so purposely followed me around John Lewis, then quickly altered his route to walk straight at me again. I later bought myself an apricot croissant to celebrate my victory.

An ancient listing, flagged in an old cutting from the Guardian, for a job at Southeast Missouri State University, to teach philosophy and religious studies. Startlingly frank.

ENCLOSED is an announcement of a tenure-track position in philosophy at the rank of assistant professor. We hope to fill this position rapidly... We are more interested in looking at candidates with real teaching experience than in newly minted PhD's, who might have unrealistic expectations about the possibilities for academic growth at an institution such as ours. Southeast Missouri State University is a regional university which serves students in the southeast portion of the state including St Louis.
Our students tend to be poorly prepared for college level work, intellectually passive, interested primarily in partying, and culturally provincial in the extreme. We offer a major in philosophy, but do not usually have more than two students officially declared as majors at any given time... We also offer a rellgious studies minor; most of the students who declare this minor are shocked to learn that Moses might not have written the Pentateuch and regard higher criticism as secular humanist propaganda.
The academic environment at
SEMO is distinctly non-intellectual - somewhat like a Norman Rockwell painting— and the candidate cannot expect to attract students by offering courses that assume innate curiosity about ideas and books, or intellectual playful-ness, or independence of moral and political thought.

An old London bus, like properly old. It's the 23A, which runs once a year from Warminster to the MoD village of Imber and beyond.

I drove the bus through Imber. You can see another bus, crowds and some military buildings where people practice manoeuvres.

I liked this bus. The seats were quite comfy and there were two bus dogs.

Today I have encountered too many people who, when talking about eclipses, have chosen to remind me they were not alive during the 1999 total eclipse. I have controlled my rage and only once shouted "Yeah, well, today's will be shit in comparison to what I've seen. So there." I am proud of me.
