They’re not going to get out of this by playing semantics. Sending detailed information about an upcoming military strike on unclassified channels (and even to the wrong guy) is wrong, reckless, and obviously a threat to American troops.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

What Shall I Cry by Greg Breda (American) - Acrylic on vellum / 2020 - Columbus Museum of Art (Ohio) #womeinart #portrait #art #gregbreda #acrylicart #artwork #ColumbusMuseumofArt #portraitofawoman #acrylicpainting #womensart #americanart #fineart #americanartist #africanamericanart #modernart
California native Greg Breda’s beautiful acrylic depiction of a mature African American woman in fancy pink top with patterns clasping hands together with a contemplative expression on her face and positioned against a background of cherry blossoms has the title, “What Shall I Cry?” which refers to a biblical passage from Isaiah regarding the fleeting nature of life on Earth.

Breda is a contemporary visual artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. Navigating the spaces between figuration and abstraction, light and shadow, Breda’s mark making employs distinctively pronounced and painterly brushstrokes to explore the complexities, resilience, strength, and beauty of the human spirit.

Sourcing media, memory, and spiritual identity, he constructs realistic central themes of quiet contemplation that consider the eternal “internal” that impact the external world, set against backgrounds that shift between abstraction, minimalism, and lushly rendered landscapes. Often referencing ancient text, nature, and the language of flowers, he ascribes metaphor and symbolism with the intention of excavating an overstanding of our matrix of life. His work is focused on discovering equilibrium between the physical and spiritual worlds.

Let me say this clearly. The tariffs are a money grab. Less money in the hands of the American people due to the new 25% tax on goods. More money to distribute to his cronies in the form of tax cuts. See how it works?

Tissarakshita, Queen of Asoka by Abanindranath Tagore (Indian) - Watercolor plus gold & silver over graphite pencil on paper / c. 1911 - Royal Collection Trust (London, England) #womeninart #indianart #art #painting #womensart #অবনীন্দ্রনাথঠাকুর #AbanindranathTagore #fineart #indian #artwork #watercolor
In this painting, Tagore depicts Queen Tissarakshita, the young consort of Ashoka, the ancient Buddhist Emperor of India. He paints her face in profile with the distinctive arched eyebrow of Rajput painting.

Perspective is minimal, and large areas of flat colour are enlivened by very subtle shading. What Tagore recognised as the bhava ('feeling') of earlier South Asian painting became the essence of his own practice. He captures Tissarakshita's conflicting feelings of triumph and regret as she stares at the wilting sacred Bodhi tree.

Having heard her husband praise and send jewels to the Bodhi, she presumed the tree was another woman and out of jealousy gave orders for her rival to be poisoned.

It is appropriate in many ways that this painting, portraying the consort of one of the earliest Indian Emperors, was presented to Queen Mary, India’s penultimate Queen-Empress. An admirer of Art Nouveau, it is possible that Mary identified a similar aesthetic of spirituality and nostalgia in the art of the Bengal School painters.

Tagore’s Queen has been described as a quintessential fin-de-siècle femme fatale and, like many Modernist painters from South Asia, he has received both admiration and reproach for an apparent appeasement to Western aesthetic sensibilities and Orientalist fantasies of the East.

Tagore pioneered the Bengal School, the first nationalist art movement in India. His works draw upon South Asian history and employ earlier South Asian as well as Japanese painting traditions using the ‘low-status’ medium of watercolour in direct resistance to the Western style of art practice represented by the work of Ravi Varma and taught at Government Art Schools in India. He is widely credited with the construction of a new "Indian" cultural identity during the independence movement.

Trump doesn't care if the economy crashes and communities suffer. His goal is to force you and your family to accept a lower standard of living while he and his friends get richer. Cutting support for law enforcement, schools, small businesses and firefighters is chaos by design.

Reposo (Rest) aka Self-portrait by Marisa Roësset (Spanish) - Oil on canvas / 1928 - Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) #womeninart #portrait #bighat #mariaroesset #womanartist #portraitofawoman #womensart #MuseuNacionald’ArtdeCatalunya #MarisaRoësset #art #sombrero #oilpainting
Marisa Roësset Velasco was a Spanish painter from an artsy family which greatly influenced her path as an artist. It was through her artistic lineage that Marisa developed an early interest in painting, including a self-portrait in pastel and other watercolor paintings by the time she was fourteen.

She attended the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, studying under Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor, José María López Mezquita, and Daniel Vázquez Díaz. There, Marisa worked with influential contemporaries such as Salvador Dalí, Victorina Durán, and Lucía Sánchez Saornil. This allowed her to forge a unique artistic identity which we see in this striking painting that is frequently attributed to her as a self portrait.

Wearing an overly-large straw hat with fern-colored accents, she sits casually on a brown tree log with a small tan, black, and white dog at her feet, set against a vivid backdrop of blue and teal foliage. Her relaxed demeanor with her hands clasped pulling her left knee towards herself is countered by a long hunting rifle leans against the log to her left.

She avoids our gaze to the right while the dog attentively stares directly at us. Marisa's neatly-styled short dark hair and the large hat frame her expression of slightly raised eyebrows, rosy cheeks, and a gentle smile, suggesting both confidence and kindness. She is dressed in a lightweight cream blouse and white trousers with a black belt plus brown knee-high hunting boots for a look that is both fashionable and suited for the outdoors. The large straw hat with a pointy top and wide up-turned brim common in a sombrero is detailed with green embellishments, provides a striking contrast to her outfit while offering a touch of rustic charm.
