I’ve found it’s extended into my 20s and 30s too 😂 Although maybe not at the same pace from when I was younger.

ADHD: Seeks change Autism: Craves Familiarity AuDHD: Goes head first into lots of changes, and only realises in the middle of the chaos it was too much change to take on at once.

My social media memories is reminding me I started uni 13 years ago. In some ways it feels like yesterday. Why does time go soooo quickly!

Seeing a business say they are no longer using AI in their marketing brought me so much joy. More of this please 🙌🏻

Something I’ve experienced is anti-autistic hate seems to be getting worse. And I mean more in daily life (and not just what certain news outlets have been pushing recently). Is it just me, or anybody else?

Yep, some of those challenges can disappear when communicating amongst ourselves.

It can become an automatic process.

Sarah Boon - Author @saraheboon.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Yep it should be a two way street. By as autistics tend to be the minority, we tend to have to do most (if not all) the work regarding this.

Do any other autistics find some of their traits get a lot more intense when feeling physically unwell? I find my threshold for sensory sensitivities becomes a lot lower when I’m not feeling 100%.

Yes, also an important thing to consider is if the autistic person is asking for this or not?

For me, if they are teaching that one way of communicating is superior to another and that a person has to do all the work to communicate in that way, then I think that can contribute towards distress.

I always question when people make bold claims around “resolving” autistic people’s “social skills” Because has their way of understanding and communicating gone away? Or have they just been pressured to suppress their autistic traits to perform normality?

One of my biggest stresses that comes from being neurodivergent in a neuronormative world is decoding the social norms for so many things. Just when I think I’ve cracked it, something else comes up which reminds me I haven’t.

It’s so important that we can forgive ourselves for things that happened in the past. Especially when those things occurred in environments we weren’t supported in and our neurodivergence was misunderstood.

8 years ago today since Milo first came home with me. And what a wonderful 8 years of joy he’s brought. If only the world was full of more Milo’s, then it would be a lot better place.

As neurodivergent people, we often face additional barriers that others don’t. Although at times it may feel impossible, I still believe that we can find happiness within our lives. If you’re neurodivergent too, I’d love for you to share ways you’ve found happiness?

I think it’s a balance. Being my own person is so important after experiencing the things you’ve mentioned, but there’s also a point where being too isolated can also be difficult too!

One of the most difficult parts about being neurodivergent can be self-acceptance. If you are neurodivergent too, has there been anything that’s helped with your own self-acceptance?

One of the reasons I believe skin care became a peak interest of mine is the sensation of serums and creams absorbing into my skin. Sensory bliss!

We sincerely wish Jason's family our condolences and solidarity, and vow to keep fighting for justice. At SEMA many of us needed time to process this news as we watched the past month's onslaught of articles against him and the wider neurodivergent community from many angles.

Just remembering how I struggled with internalised ableism years ago, before I knew I was neurodivergent. In a different timeline where I didn’t understand what I know now, I could see myself coming to similar conclusions due to internalised ableism.

Does anybody else question if a number of the people who go on about “overdiagnosis” are potentially undiagnosed themselves, and possibly struggling with internalised ableism? Because I could really see that being the case for some people.

Do any other AuDHD people struggle with being indecisive at times? Because I’ve currently got about 20 paint samples on the wall right now. I still can’t decide on one colour, or if I should get some more samples before making my final decision. 🤣

Nothing worse when you’re autistic and one of your safe foods is taken off the menu. Especially when it’s one of the only plainer food options on the menu and you have a lot of sensory needs with food 🙈 Any other autistics struggle with this?

Just because they can’t see it in us, doesn’t mean their perceptions are true.

When people say or imply that “you’re only a little bit/mildly autistic” or don’t believe you’re autistic at all… It actually says more about them (and specifically their perceptions) rather than our reality of being autistic.
