ADHD: Seeks change Autism: Craves Familiarity AuDHD: Goes head first into lots of changes, and only realises in the middle of the chaos it was too much change to take on at once.

Something I’ve experienced is anti-autistic hate seems to be getting worse. And I mean more in daily life (and not just what certain news outlets have been pushing recently). Is it just me, or anybody else?

Do any other autistics find some of their traits get a lot more intense when feeling physically unwell? I find my threshold for sensory sensitivities becomes a lot lower when I’m not feeling 100%.

I always question when people make bold claims around “resolving” autistic people’s “social skills” Because has their way of understanding and communicating gone away? Or have they just been pressured to suppress their autistic traits to perform normality?

One of my biggest stresses that comes from being neurodivergent in a neuronormative world is decoding the social norms for so many things. Just when I think I’ve cracked it, something else comes up which reminds me I haven’t.

It’s so important that we can forgive ourselves for things that happened in the past. Especially when those things occurred in environments we weren’t supported in and our neurodivergence was misunderstood.

8 years ago today since Milo first came home with me. And what a wonderful 8 years of joy he’s brought. If only the world was full of more Milo’s, then it would be a lot better place.

As neurodivergent people, we often face additional barriers that others don’t. Although at times it may feel impossible, I still believe that we can find happiness within our lives. If you’re neurodivergent too, I’d love for you to share ways you’ve found happiness?

7 years today I got my autism diagnosis. Honestly it was a life changing day. Life has never been exactly the same since, but in a good way (overall).

One of the most difficult parts about being neurodivergent can be self-acceptance. If you are neurodivergent too, has there been anything that’s helped with your own self-acceptance?

We sincerely wish Jason's family our condolences and solidarity, and vow to keep fighting for justice. At SEMA many of us needed time to process this news as we watched the past month's onslaught of articles against him and the wider neurodivergent community from many angles.

Does anybody else question if a number of the people who go on about “overdiagnosis” are potentially undiagnosed themselves, and possibly struggling with internalised ableism? Because I could really see that being the case for some people.

Do any other AuDHD people struggle with being indecisive at times? Because I’ve currently got about 20 paint samples on the wall right now. I still can’t decide on one colour, or if I should get some more samples before making my final decision. 🤣

Nothing worse when you’re autistic and one of your safe foods is taken off the menu. Especially when it’s one of the only plainer food options on the menu and you have a lot of sensory needs with food 🙈 Any other autistics struggle with this?

When people say or imply that “you’re only a little bit/mildly autistic” or don’t believe you’re autistic at all… It actually says more about them (and specifically their perceptions) rather than our reality of being autistic.

A hard pill to swallow when you’re neurodivergent is wanting to do so many things for enjoyment, but you become too overwhelmed in the process of trying to do some of those things. It can be hard when your limit is lower than you’d like it to be.

I’ve frequently been told that people don’t like me, but they don’t know why. Both to my face and behind my back. I’m wondering if this is a common experience among Neurodivergent people? If you’re neurodivergent too, have you experienced similar comments?

One of the biggest ways I’ve been hit by the ADHD tax is lawn mowers. I struggle to keep awareness of where the wire is while mowing, and I’ve often sliced the wire with the mower without realising until after it’s happened. Anyway, I’m trying a cordless mower this time and hoping it lasts!

As an autistic person who experiences hypersensitivity to taste and texture, I sometimes struggle to advocate for myself when it comes to dietary requirements (when asked). I’d love to know what other people do who are in a similar situation and how they navigate this?
