I hope that the consultation process encourages the @arc-gov-au.bsky.social to allow an additional attempt for ECRs that used the final round of the DECRA as their 2nd attempt rather than waiting. Like many others, I was encouraged to apply in case the proposed schemes were no longer suitable.
The ARC’s intent is that recipients of current or previous grants who have met limits on the number of grants that an individual can hold should not be eligible for schemes designed to fulfil a comparable purpose. Similarly, the ARC intends to retain limits on application attempts for the Initiate scheme and transfer previous attempts from the Discovery Early-Career Researcher Award (DECRA), potentially allowing one extra attempt to ensure that applicants previously unsuccessful in DECRA have another opportunity in the new NCGP. During implementation, the ARC will ensure that all new schemes include these criteria where applicable and consider whether attempt limits are appropriate for other schemes.

Little late but this is a cool paper I was happy to be a part of led by @piamakela.bsky.social published in Addiction. Some indications that we need to rethink cut-off AUDIT-C scores in older populations onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Very proud of @alextorney.bsky.social 's work on this paper. Over 40% of cask wine brands appear to be owned by retailers, and these brands are often cheaper than others.

Really interesting article on lifetime consumption that is super important for work on long term harms. One thing that the authors pointed to was the lack of internal consistency measurement. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

A bit late, but I was super proud to see @yvettemp.bsky.social graduate with fellow supervisor @birdmichael.bsky.social on Monday. She also won @latrobeuni.bsky.social's Nancy Mills Medal for an outstanding thesis, no big deal. Sadly missing with the flu was @amypennay.bsky.social .
Sarah Yvette and Michael are in their academic robes and Yvette is holding her PhD certificate and Nancy Mills Medal.

Great to see something written about this by an actual teenager. And this 15yo makes so many good points. Including, "If tech companies have the capability to delete accounts for people under the age of 16, they also have the capability to delete accounts that bully, harass or cause harm."

Why alcohol policies miss those at the highest risk from drinking
Campaigns designed to help us cut back on alcohol don’t always reach those most at risk of harm. Here’s what we should be doing instead.

The Liberal party now only holds two seats previously held by its leaders - Wannon (Fraser) and Cook (Morrison). Voters comprehensively rejected it. The question is - will Labor? www.thenewdaily.com.au/news/politic...
