Our film got to the 2nd round of Sundance’s Feature Film Program!! THE LAST SETLIST is a musical—Station Eleven meets Andor, community resilience as resistance—with music/lyrics by @jeffrosenstock.bsky.social and @chrisfarren.bsky.social. Advancement ≠ acceptance, but it’s a huge deal nonetheless.
An email from the Sundance Institute that reads: “2027 Development Track |
Invitation to Round 2
Dear Sarah,
We are pleased to inform you that we are advancing The Last Setlist to the second round of consideration for the 2027 Development Track. Below are instructions for submitting Round 2 materials; please read them all!”

Long shot expecting the non-existent algorithm to serve up the previous post to the few absurdist humor-loving cinephiles who also follow local Seattle news, but it has to be said: if you haven’t seen NIRVANA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE yet, you really should.

“Millions of dollars a day.” Wouldn’t it be lovely if that bill came due right as Oracle collapses from its overexposure on OpenAI?
From VARIETY: “In antitrust cases, the injunction is often the whole ballgame. If it is not granted, the deal is allowed to close and it becomes almost impossible to unwind later on. But if it is granted, the deal tends to fall apart before the underlying case can go to trial.

Paramount has pushed for a hearing on the injunction with live witnesses. The company hopes to get a ruling on the injunction by early September. If the deal has not closed by Sept. 30, Paramount will start to owe millions of dollars a day to Warner Bros. investors.”

Did my first post-cancer reading at a literary event last night. It went well, performance-wise, but my heart rate was around 120bpm the entire time. I kept telling my body: 'you've done this before. It's just words. It's just words in front of people' and oof if one's soul could roll their eyes...

It’s been snowing around WA since 5am. Mountain passes are shut down, flights are delayed—no one expected this. No plows were ready. No snow all winter and now right before spring, this! It’s got ‘I’ve-procrastinated-until-the-last-second-and-now-I’m-doing-the-most’ ADHD energy and I love it. #wawx

Alex Pretti. Renee Good. Keith Porter. And dozens of immigrants, most of them lawfully in the United States, who have died in detention in the last year. Do something. Don’t look away. Don’t say you didn’t know.
They killed a nurse today. 37 years old. He worked at the VA. He was directing traffic. He was trying to help another person up when ICE surrounded him, brutalizing him. They took a gun from him that he wasn’t brandishing, that he had a permit in an open carry state for, and then when he was prone and restrained, executed him at point blank range. They’re killing US citizens, without arrest, without trial. Alex Pretti. Renee Good. Keith Porter. And dozens of immigrants, most of them lawfully in the United States, who have died in detention in the last year.

Call your electeds: ask your Senators not to fund ICE. Ask your reps to call for ICE to be abolished and to support Rep. Kelly’s H.Res.996 to impeach Noem. Leave a vm today, call again on Monday. Then, because that may feel fruitless even though it matters and is already moving moderates towards abolition, do something concrete and positive: pick a mutual aid to donate to (standwithminnesota.com) so you can support those defending democracy and our neighbors in Minnesota.Dr Dimitri Drekonja, MD writes: “Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him. White. Hot. Rage.
(Referencing a picture of a young man) Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We'd chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now.”

I recently reread Sense & Sensibility and watched the 1996 film in theater. It’s still my favorite Austen novel and my fav film adaptation of her work. I’m Elinor by family role but Marianne in mood and the phrase ‘inside you there are two Dashwood sisters’ kept coming to mind as I reread the book.

Love @realgdt.bsky.social’s philosophy. Actors do better on physical sets than green screens. Hiring more craftspeople strengthens our film ecosystem. And being anti-AI is great marketing: it says, come see this—it was crafted with hard work and dedication, not theft. variety.com/2025/film/ne...

Another queer Greek myth I adore is @wiswell.bsky.social’s WEARING THE LION. If you were into SUPERMAN’s ‘kindness is the real punk rock’ vibe, read this. It’s about how we react (good and bad) to suffering, found family, and as with all John’s work, pro-disability (the Atlas encounter made me cry).

Jo Walton’s LENT is quiet and moving. I never thought a SFF alt-history of Florence’s Savonarola being stuck in a Groundhog’s Day purgatory cycle would move me as much as this did but it’s another story I think about often. Its final line made cry and hug the book close.

My grandma gave me this copy of A GIRL OF THE LIMBERLOST decades ago. It’s a treasured not only for the story (think Anne of Green Gables + mother issues and environmentalism) but because it reminds of how much Grandma loved books—she gave me so many classics when I was young so I’d love them too.
