Biggest thing godot's CSG tools are missing is a "hollow" mode for all shapes (similar to solidify modifier in blender) to make rooms and buildings. And per-face materials. Like. The things I could do with just those two features added would be game-changing

Wait shit I've actually got LOD generation working now fuck yeah! this is 1km of space on my laptop running at nearly 100fps. And there's still some trivial optimisation possible ... This whole project may actually produce something that is production-viable at this rate

It doesn't fix the problem I'm having where Material maker's scratches generator (which I'm using for the grass) creates obvious grid lines at small enough lengths. So if anyone knows how to fix (or compensate for) that i'd love advice

Working on terrain stuff in my free time again. Having a lot of fun playing with the particulars of the terrain shader. Most recently: A variance map that multiplies with the regular colours. Goes a long way to hide tiling textures
