turned upside down again.
It always came back to Bert, didn't it? The blonde was a poison, and
even after a decade of opportunity, Sam still hadn't managed to find
an antidote.

the way this is one of my favourite things I’ve ever written and it’s for a show that hasn’t even aired yet

They'd never defined their relationship, never felt the need to put
labels on things. Sam knew Bert like she knew the back of her own
hand; knew her heart, her body, her soul. They weren't friends,
weren't lovers. There wasn't, Sam was sure, a word that could define
exactly what they were to each other, only that they belonged together.
