Strangers Behind Closed Doors by Catherine Adel West. Please be mindful of the content warnings prior to reading this book. Thriller. Dual POV. Set in Chicago. Black women-led. Social commentary. Flashbacks. Cold cases. I wasn't fond of the pace but it was still a decent read. My rating /5: ★★★

Persephone Station by Stina Leicht. Please be mindful of the content warnings prior to reading this book. Science fiction. Slow-paced. I cannot decide whether I find the characters annoying or if I am annoyed that this book is lacking in ways I wasn't prepared for. Both? Both. My rating /5: ★★

Good Spirits by B.K. Borison. Please be mindful of the content warnings prior to reading this book. Christmas. Paranormal. My favourite thing about this book was the cover art. Author writes spice in an uncomfortable manner. I rarely skip spice, I likely always will if it's B.K.'s. My rating /5: ★

These Lunar Bonds by Holly Dunwall. Please be mindful of the content warnings prior to reading this book. Omegaverse. Found Family. Autistic MC. Apple had my heart. My primary gripe with this book was that the author chose to make the MC, an adult woman, strangely juvenile. My rating /5: ★★★★

Trying to figure out if a book cover is AI generated or not for the purpose of not putting it in a thread that could draw even the most minuscule amount of attention to the book if it is...

I cannot recall the order I read them in, to be honest. I feel like it's always a safer bet to do what you have, just in case. I have unknowingly read a series out of chronological order (I wasn't always on apps where you can see the order of the books etc) and regretted it a few times. 😅

Mudflowers by Aley Waterman. Please be mindful of the content warnings prior to reading this book. Literary fiction. Kind of stream of conscious/diary vibes. It's messy, casual and slow. The slow is likely why I didn't particularly enjoy it. Sally Rooney enjoyers may like this. My rating /5: ★★★

Show Up by Renée Dahlia. Please be mindful of the content warnings prior to reading this book. Romance. Fake Dating (a trope I typically enjoy). Not enough burlesque and too much cardboard (which is my way of saying it was bland). I didn't buy the romance/chemistry between the MCs. My rating /5: ★

Audible (Amazon) is allegedly launching a pointless waste of actually necessary resources to "let you talk to audiobook characters using generative AI." I wonder who they're selling user stupidity to now.

If your response is to launch a malicious campaign against the reviewer you have either indirectly or directly accused of doing the same, you are human garbage and an insult to your profession/hobby. Instead of assuming the role of a threat you likely aren't, stop seeking out things that wound you.

000

Moon🌙 @sapphicschitt.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I know this may come as a surprise to some but not everyone who leaves a review you don't particularly like is actually coming from a place of malice. People can be aware or unaware of what it takes to write a book (objectively well or otherwise). People can simply enjoy or not enjoy your book.

I'm seeing a sudden influx of posts reminding authors that book review spaces are for readers not for authors, was there another adult child throwing a tantrum due to their inability or unwillingness to regulate their emotions that I should know about and by default boycott? /gen
