When you've been studying Hungarian and you see the locative case everywhere. 😜 Finally I found eye drops that respect vowel harmony. If it were "Optiban" it wouldn't feel right, but Optiben? It's perfect! 👍 #Magyar #LanguageLearning #Polyglot #Hungarian

I’m not a native speaker, but I’ve heard both versions. I think the first one is informal and used in spoken language, while the second is more formal and typically used in writing. Let’s see if a native speaker can confirm this. 👍😉

Yo me di cuenta de eso cuando empecé a estudiar ruso y polaco. Lo mismo con los verbos en perfectivo e imperfectivo en infinitivo que funcionan más o menos igual en todas las lenguas eslavas.

I've been using HANLY lately and it’s honestly the best free app I’ve found for learning Chinese characters. It breaks down each Hanzi into components, shows stroke order, evolution and super helpful mnemonics. If you’re learning Chinese characters, this app is free and really good. #LangSky

The German word ‘Pferd’ and its Dutch cognate ‘paard’ are horses of mixed breed parentage. Their common ancestor came from Latin ‘paraverēdus’ (substitute post-horse), a word composed of an Ancient Greek element and a Gaulish one. Zoom in on my new infographic to learn everything about it:

People freak out when they see German like: neunzehnhundertneunundneunzig 😱 But imagine English smashed together: onethousandninehundredandninetynine Or Spanish: milnovecientosnoventaynueve Any language looks confusing written like this. German just looks scary at first, but it's not! 😉 #LangSky

It’s funny how some people hate the sound of the Spanish “Z” and “C” (before E or I)… but “think” or “thin” in English? No problem. 😏 #LangSky

It's going well. I'm enjoying it a lot. I normally start with Assimil, and after finishing 50% or more of it, I move on to podcasts. My main hurdle is finding interesting content at my level. How about you, Alex?

I can't say how people in Sweden react, since I've never been there, but my language exchange tandem family and my Swedish-speaking neighbours are happy that I can speak it with them. 👍

I find Italian and Swedish beautiful and melodic and this feeling is reinforced by the fact that their speakers are glad when you can speak their language.

It's pretty easy to use. You just explain in your own words what you want Google AI to do, and that's it. I pasted the Chinese text and told it to convert it into simplified characters, add pinyin and provide an English translation sentence by sentence. It's free, you just need a Gmail account.
