A friend of mine when I was a kid had a PS1 with CTR and I wanted to play it every time I came over for a visit, probably to his disappointment since he had played it enough already xD

I got hit like a train by the auditory-emotional impact of this song hitting the video limit and looping suddenly exactly 3 minutes in. Finally catching up on this commentary, thank you so much for it I love this album and I love your music!!

Yeah, it's a really old fork; both pokered and rgbds have changed a lot (for the better!). Almost think it would be best to start over by manually rebasing each commit - involved but educational. Sadly I don't have time to do any work but I do offer to consult. I'm on Discord or Telegram (@sanqui).

Now that I think about this more: WriteDMACodeToHRAM makes the OAM DMA routine, which is Game Boy specific. But sprites already do display in my port thanks to the new VBlank routine. There are other problems with OAM though, such as no hardware horizontal mirroring being available on Game Gear.

I'm impressed you got it running! There are going to be more causes for glitchy graphics. Off the top of my head: the decompression routine writes to SRAM, which is mapped differently; and the overworld scroll routine needs to be adjusted for the GG's differently sized tilemap.

It was true before AI, it is still true today: validate the SOURCE. There is no other way. If a video is posted by a zoo, licensed rehab, wildlife photographer, etc: Enjoy it! If it's posted by "randomdude284" or "cuteanimalvibes": It's probably AI/staged/stolen. Follow creators, block reposters!

Pixel art of three Vespersaurus paranaensis, small bipedal Noasaurinae dinosaurs with long tails and which may have walked on only one toe, which are traveling across the region of Brazil which was once desert. There are many rocks around them as they walk over the sand and mountains in the hazy distance, with a large sun overhead.

Un-unlisted some of my old YouTube videos from 2008-2009. Nothing notable, just personal history, but YouTube decided to set the published date on some (but not all) of them as today, even though they have old comments. Windows Movie Maker jumpscare awaits my subscribers.

Back home from the 25th camping get-together of the Czech Pokémon community! Alongside the usual hikes and games, we had a nearly 2 hour presentation about the history of the community and all the creative pursuits and meets. Was fun to reminisce, and it's crazy to watch aftermovie videos from 2005!

Like all birds, chickens have neophobia, which means it will take them a few days to get used to it merely existing. We have a camera set up pointing at the run so I'll be sure to post an update if we see them using it!

We built our chickens what the manufacturer calls an "activity center". Usually they get to roam the whole garden, but when we go on vacation, they're stuck in the run. So it should bring them some variety!

A successor website to redump.org from the same staff team just launched, featuring better registration and metadata submission processes and HTTPS in 2026 among other things #redump redump.info
A screenshot of current redump.info main page. Official announcement text partially reads:

"As many of you are aware, there have been longstanding issues with the redump.org site infrastructure. Basic features such as HTTPS have been missing and the project staff have been unable to address this due to the site being tightly controlled by an inactive administrator.

This has become increasingly untenable over the course of the past year, with major site outages and issues causing real concern that data could be permanently lost. Staff have made multiple attempts over several years to contact the redump.org admin to ask for these issues to be addressed, but all of these efforts have been either rebuffed or outright ignored. We believe that the work done here at Redump is very important for long-term preservation of data, which has necessitated this shift to ensure the project is successful for many years to come.

As a result, this year we decided to take the initiative and move to a new site, giving us a more solid and modern codebase to work from, and a more collaborative governance structure ensuring that major site decisions cannot be locked behind the availability of any single member of the team.

[...]

The Redump staff would like to thank all of you for your patience as we've worked through this process, and over the past few years in dealing with the difficulties presented by the old site. We ask for your continued patience as we get up and running, as it will take everyone some time to get fully up to speed. In particular, for the moment we ask that you keep a note of any feature requests you might have. We will soon be announcing an official process for submitting these, and we have many ideas of our own, but for now our focus is on making this transition as seamless as possible."

Personally, I would first try to solve the "plastic" look, which is caused by realistic rendering together with the head being a single color. We don't want to change the color and texture, so I would try applying a cel shading shader on both models and then reconsider!

I thought I would try and drop tidbits of what I'm working on. It's important to make peace with the fact that not everything I do is going to interest all! Never really had trouble with Gitlab as a user, but Forgejo is lighter and the new hotness. And I was satisfied by Gitea in the past. ovo

There's a general sentiment that GitHub is a sinking ship, so I went ahead and set up Forgejo (forgejo.org) at work so we could get a feel for it. Deployed it on a Debian VPS as Podman "Quadlets" using Ansible and it's like a devops dream. Clean and declarative!
