We call ourselves "intelligent," yet the humblest fungus can decompose waste and build soil, a tree can harness solar energy, and a wetland can purify water—all without toxic byproducts. True intelligence is learning from these systems, not bulldozing them.

Bees pollinate one out of every three bites of food we eat. They support 75-80% of flowering plants and boost crop yields worldwide. But they can’t do it alone. My dad’s wisdom rings true: Bee farming begins with tree planting. Plant a tree today → feed the bees → secure our food future. 🌍🐝

Epic river migrations of fish rapidly collapsing, UN report finds
Vast journeys, among world’s great wonders, found to be under threat as freshwater fish populations crash by 81% “It’s very hard to imagine what’s going on beneath the water when you look at a river – but you have billions of fish making these epic migrations, some of the largest animal migrations on Earth,” said Dr Zeb Hogan, at the University of Nevada in the US. The longest migration of any freshwater fish species is the dorado catfish, which makes a migration of 7,000 miles (11,000km), from spawning in the foothills of the Andes to feeding in the Amazon estuary and back again. The silver-gold fish themselves were incredible, said Hogan: “They get to about 2 metres long.” Continue reading...

Important paper. Deep takeaway: SSF resilience isn’t “bounce back,” it’s redundancy—local buyers + cold storage/processing + digital access + social protection. W/out those buffers, shocks force harmful coping (debt, risky trade, overfishing) & widen inequity—especially for women & informal fishers.
