Are any WA lawmakers working to address scam/possibly AI calls? I’ve posted about it on Facebook before and several friends are also experiencing exorbitant voicemails offering personal loans. They’re prerecorded and purportedly come from vaguely named places like “the lending department.”

Just under a year ago, my colleague Whitney Bryen and I began hearing about women in Idaho prisons being sexually abused by staff. We investigated — and what we've found since has shocked us. Today, the first two stories in our 6(!)-part series were published.

This week’s cover story features Donna Miser, who, like thousands of women, got what’s often referred to as the “sling” procedure to help with urinary incontinence. The plastic mesh (and method) used has created horrific complications for her and many others www.inlander.com/news/airway-...

I didn’t include this context in this story, but I think this is worth remembering: if you work full time at federal min wage ($7.25/hr) you earn just $15,080/year. 138% of fed poverty level is ≈ $10.38/hr full time. More than 20 states use fed min wage.
