Parente, who was a federal prosecutor for 15 years, said he had never heard of anything as bad as the conduct in the Broadview Six grand jury sessions. He said that while he has not yet been able to review the unredacted transcripts, Judge April Perry gave a summary in court of her impressions. She said she had reviewed thousands of pages of grand jury transcripts in her career and had never seen anything worse than what she saw in these pages.

Parente said during the grand jury sessions, prosecutors used vouching, which he called a "101 no-no for any prosecutor," kicked out grand jury members who disagreed with them, did not disclose that a No True Bill – which indicates no indictment – had been returned to either the defense or the public. Parente also said that after receiving the No True Bill from one grand jury, they re-presented their case after excluding grand jurors who disagreed with them. The grand jury then returned a True Bill to indict the "Broadview Six."

Kat Abughazaleh Is the Gen Z Granddaughter of Nakba Survivors, and She's Running for Congress
The 26-year-old is running to represent Chicago on Capitol Hill. Kat Abughazaleh talks to Haaretz about calling out antisemitism on the left, why breaking cycles of trauma matters in politics and why 'we cannot make this a single-issue election'

Her experience reporting on conspiracy theories has propelled her to call out antisemitism while also attacking any conflation of antisemitism with campus protests that have been central to the Trump administration's attacks.
"Most of them were extremely peaceful and also had a lot of Jewish leaders," she says, noting that she attended the encampment at GWU.
"To call that antisemitic is an insult to the protesters that were there. It's what authoritarians always do: They attack education, Jewish people, queer people, immigrants, any noticeable minority to try to pit them against other people," she says, noting the prevalence of the "great replacement theory" among senior U.S. officials.

Growing up in post-9/11 Texas, Abughazaleh notes the effort her father made to break cycles of trauma by ensuring his children were around Jewish people.
"I have lots of Jewish friends who also had the same thing, where their parents or grandparents, survived the Holocaust. There's no arguing with trauma. When you're traumatized and afraid, you lash out, you make notions that might never be dispelled. But your kids can do that. Now, our generation is kind of trying to continue the work and not just break the cycle, but join together," she says.
